Of course the republicans, who challenge everything that comes out of the presidents mouth, are outraged and immediately jumped into the conversation with their usual venom. "We've had to bring the president kicking and screaming to the table to cut spending," said House Minority Leader Eric Cantor. "And right away, they're insisting that we have to go about looking at raising taxes again". Yes. Congressman Cantor, the president with all his gall, is again going to talk about those nasty little tax breaks for the rich that were ushered in by the Bush Administration and carried over by his own administration. It is high time the rich pay their fair share and it is high time for the president to get serious about negotiating tax cuts for the richest two-percent of this country part of any discussion of our nation's budget.
Now, the republicans are threatening to vote against raising the debt limit in another show of "Watch the Clock". Obama, then a Jr. Senator from Illinios who voted against raising the nation's debt limit, has had a change of heart, and for good reason. The very credit worthiness of this country could be called into question. This has huge ramifications across the spectrum because the dollar is the most sought after currency in the financial world. This could very well cause a world wide depression, yet again the members of congress are playing a dangerous game of backing the president into a corner in order to leave the rich to their riches.
It is also time to cut this monstrous defense budget that is larger than the rest of the worlds' combined. Building planes and other military hardware that the military do not want and do not need may very well keep you in office by keeping jobs in your district, but it is bad for this country and anyone who questioned Obama's patriotism for not wearing a flag pin during the election, where is your patriotism now? Show some backbone and cut the defense budget that even the heads of the Joint Chief's of Staff have no problem with.This country is paying thirty cents out of every dollar of our GNP for interest on the deficit. Not a bright future for our grandchildren.
According to a poll taken after the latest fiasco of last minute negotiation's, the Post/Pew survey showed these were the impressions the public had of the last budget negotiations. Among The top 10 words used included "ridiculous", "frustrating", "stupidity", "childish" and "bulls**t". This is the impression left by all sides in this debate. This after all the talking heads on all the news shows asked "who were the winners and who were the losers" in all of this. The truth of the matter is there were no winners and losers among the people who participated in this dog and pony show. No, It seems the American people were once again the losers in this battle over the future of this nation
