FORLORN
Didn't you hear?
PERPLEXED
What?
FORLORN
Charleton Heston died?
PERPLEXED
What?!
FORLORN
(tossing front page over)
Right here.
PERPLEXED
(examining paper)
Oh god....
FORLORN
About your political activism, I'm sorry you're discouraged.
That happens to all of us--
HAPPY
And specially during these times--so much bad news. Take a
break and reconnect.
FORLORN
Each act of resistance against this mess is necessary.
HAPPY
And none of us know what will be the act which renders the
final blow.
FORLORN
So we need all of us, and all of our ideas.
HAPPY
Which of course includes you.
PERPLEXED
But hasn't it occurred to you that "all our ideas" have
dwindled to the idea of joining together in one voice? Isn't
that what the sentiment of the torches and pitchforks is all
about? What's going to happen if we fail to get on the same
page? It's happening! What will they do? They're doing it!
Isn't it obvious? How can the idea of a national convention
be just another idea when it's the one which joins all the
anger together--and without pitchforks? The convention is
not my issue.
FORLORN
It just doesn't grab me for some reason.
PERPLEXED
How did this happen? I was full of joy a few minutes ago-
talkin' poetry and plays.
HAPPY
Have you tried blogging about this?

I'm a writer/artist/activist from California, with a degree in Creative Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara. I've been an advocating for the convention clause of Article V since 2001.
