Vice President Joe Biden spoke by telephone with Kurdistan Regional Government President Massoud Barzani to reiterate U.S. Government's support for an inclusive Iraqi government that reflected the results of the recent election. The two agreed that all winning coalitions should be included in the new government, and the Vice President expressed support for a meeting between the leaders of these coalitions to hammer out power-sharing arrangements in accordance with the Iraqi constitution. The Vice President reiterated that the United States was not backing specific candidates and urged Barzani to expedite efforts to form an inclusive and legitimate government responsive to the needs of the Iraqi people. Day624/Oct10th/Sunday: The President and Vice President Joe Biden traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to deliver remarks at a DNC "Moving America Forward" rally. Transcript

The President, in a statement release, expressed sadness over the death of gospel singer Albertina Walker. Source

Day625/Oct11th/Monday: The President held a meeting in the State Dining Room of the White House on infrastructure investment with United States Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner , U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood , former U.S. Secretaries of Transportation Norman Mineta and Samuel Skinner, Governors Ed Rendell and Jack Markell, and Mayors Antonio Villaraigosa, Mick Cornett, Julian Castro, Michael Coleman, Michael Nutter, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Kasim Reed and Joseph P. Riley, Jr. The group discussed the current state of U.S. transportation infrastructure in cities and states across the country, the challenges they face to improving their infrastructure, and the short- and long-term economic impact of new infrastructure investment. The group also discussed a new report on infrastructure investment from the U.S. Department of the Treasury with the U.S. Council of Economic Advisers. The President signed into law S. 3729 , the "National Aeronautics Space Administration Authorization Act of 2010," which authorized appropriations to NASA for FYs 2011-2013; required development of a Space Launch System that would access the regions of space beyond low-earth orbit; required continued support for development of commercial crew and cargo transportation capabilities; supported use of the International Space Station (ISS) through 2020; and required one additional Space Shuttle mission to the ISS in FY 2011. The President, in a statement release, congratulated Peter Diamond and Dale Mortensen on winning the Nobel Prize in Economics, noting he had nominated Peter Diamond to the Board of Governors of the United States Federal Reserve, and expressed hope Diamond would be confirmed by the Senate as quickly as possible.
