"Well, ah... I'll have some members of my economic team read it and get back to you about that."

The President Elect was back in charge and had become dubious again. I had the image of Volker telling Obama that he had dropped his copy into a recycling bin after perusing some of it.

"Do you have anything else to add or expound on?" he asked.

"No, but I would say this," I said emphatically as I stood the book upright on its bottom. "This book is the missing link. This book explains why we are in the mess we are in better than all other media I've read or seen. You will do yourself and your country a great disservice if you pass it on to your Fed cheerleaders and not read it yourself. This book is your autographed copy from the author."

"You know her then?" he asked pointedly.

"Vaguely. I've heard her speak and talked to her. I bought my copy through her, and when I emailed her I'd be meeting with you, she sent me this copy to give to you." I put the book flat and pushed it over to Harry. I began to zip up my brief case, as I added, "And I can't thank you enough, Mr. President-Elect, for taking the time to meet with me. Good luck and I am at your service at any time. Thank you."

"I'll make sure I read it, Mr. Cowan, and thank you for coming. Make sure he gets anything he needs, Harry. Good afternoon." He nodded to me, and suddenly the giant TV was all blue.

I stood up and shook hands with Harry and Ted, and after a moment of small talk about my travel arrangements to the airport in the morning, I left and took a cab to the hotel where I was wined and dined with no complaints.
