"But most important of all, there is a huge awakening taking place in the United States and across the world against the globalist agenda. Free people everywhere are joining together and saying no to corruption and tyranny, and no to world government.
"Humankind is at a historic crossroads. The forces of globalism are marching towards absolute despotism. Look in the mirror. Count the cost. And decide, are you going to let history repeat itself? Or, will you stand tall with freedom lovers everywhere, and stop the completion of a world dictatorship?"
Reviewer's Postscript
I think that editors at OpEdNews knew that upon publishing, any review of The Obama Deception would touch off a lively debate around here. For people who are working on other issues, it might be seen as an inconvenient distraction. But, the movie dovetails with much other criticism -- especially on the economy -- that Barack Obama is actually getting these days. For that, and to be a news outlet on top of the scene, OEN had no choice but to publish a review of The Obama Deception.
And for my part, I re-drafted my review to come out with what you see above -- a regurgitation, that passes along the point of the movie with no counter-spin. I largely removed the prism of interpretation or opinion from my own quarter. Earlier, I concluded that "different people will have different take-aways" from this documentary. There is plenty of room for debate.
Somewhat parenthetically, I'll add my own response here in the postscript. I believe there is a difference between diagnosis and prognosis. Alex Jones is a very observant analyst, with prodigious skills of documenting and presenting his material. I would agree with his diagnosis, that Wall Street has hijacked the government, and Barack Obama appears to be on the side of Wall Street. That's plenty bad enough. I need not agree with his prognosis -- that doomsday is impending and that we face an imminent global dictatorship of corporatists or fascists.
Elsewhere, someone else responded that Jones "gives the elites too much credit." In other words, are the elites really that powerful? Are they really that evil? And, are they really competent enough -- or foolhardy enough -- to attempt a global dictatorship? Didn't George W. Bush try an ersatz dictatorship? And didn't people see through that and reject him? I find it hard to believe that next week, next month, or even next year will bring a global dictatorship.
Why do I doubt that prognosis? --Because every place on the globe already has a government. The giant dictatorship that Jones fears would have to co-opt, subborn, buy off, or conquer every one of the pre-existing governments. That's over 200 countries in the world. I very much enjoy the existence of separate and distinct nation-states, because if one government loses its mind, there are still alternatives -- places for emigrees and refugees to go. It's like having crumple zones in your car. One or more governments could get bent out of shape, but not all 200 at once.
To have a diversity of nations is a safety feature for the world. Jones and I would agree that a one-world government is or would be a bad thing. But, he fears that it is imminent, while I am far more sanguine and less paranoid. Any world dictatorship has the feasibility problems that I mentioned above. So, I refuse to lose sleep over that prospect. However, on individual issues, Jones has good ones. I would be happy to stand with him at any "abolish the Fed" rally.
At the end of day, I partially agree and partially disagree with Alex Jones. That's natural. I predicted that "different people will have different take-aways" from this documentary. And there you now have mine. I look forward to your own in the comments below the article.
