Statement B: Voting machines and other voting equipment or technology should be owned and operated by state and municiple entities. This would ensure that people from both or all political parties are involved in the process, cutting down on the possibility of voting fraud.

1. A 2. B 3. None/other 4. Not sure

20. Do you think that the job of maintaining voter records and determining who is eligible to vote should be outsourced to private companies and corporations or should it be the function of state, county and municipal organizations to maintain voter records and determine who is eligible to vote?

1. Outsourced to private companies/corporations
2. Function of state, county, and municiple organizations
3. Neither/other
4. Not sure

21. Which of the following positions on election financing comes closer to your own position – A or B?

Position A: Candidates should be allowed to raise as much money as they want from individuals, industry, and corporations.

Position B: All eligible candidates should get a fixed amount of money to spend on their campaigns to prevent influence buying.

Now, some questions about domestic issues.

24. Some people have suggested that the US adopt a single payer health care system similar to that used in Canada. Supporters say that every other developed nation uses this form of system to ensure that all their citizens have health care. In addition, supporters argue that businesses will be better off because they would not have to incur the cost of providing health care to the employees. Opponents say that the single payer system is a bad idea. They say the US has the best quality health care in the world and if we were to go to a single payer system, the quality of health care would worsen. They also say the country can't afford it without large tax increases. Who are you more likely to agree with – supporters of a single payer health care system or opponents of such a system?

1. Supporters 2. Opponents 3. Not sure

25. Some people have suggested that the US increase the minimum wage. Supporters say increasing the minimum wage will lift people out of poverty and keep full time workers from needing government services. Increasing the minimum wage will increase the amount of money going to the federal government because of the increase in taxes being paid. Opponents say that increasing the minimum wages hurts the people it is trying to help. Businesses will not be able to afford to pay the increased wages, so they will be forced to cut jobs. Opponents also say that an increase in the minimum wage would lead to higher prices for consumers. Who are you more likely to agree with – supporters of a increase in the minimum wage or opponents of an increase in the minimum wage?

1. Supporters 2. Opponents 3. Not sure
