The President was briefed by Assistant to the President for Homeland Security John Brennan on the ongoing efforts in response to the severe weather and flooding in Tennessee and across the Southeast. Source

The President declared a major disaster existed in the State of Maryland and ordered Federal aid to supplement the State and local recovery efforts in the area struck by severe winter storms and snowstorms during the period of February 5-11, 2010. Federal funding was made available to the State and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe winter storms and snowstorms in Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George's, Queen Anne's, Saint Mary's, Talbot, Washington, and Wicomico Counties and the Independent City of Baltimore. Assistance was also made available to the State and eligible local governments on a cost-sharing basis for emergency protective measures, including snow assistance, for a continuous 48-hour period during or proximate to the incident period in Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Montgomery, Prince George's, Queen Anne's, Saint Mary's, Washington, and Wicomico Counties and the Independent City of Baltimore and for a continuous 72-hour period during or proximate to the incident period in Cecil, Howard, Kent, and Talbot Counties. Federal funding was also made available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide. Source
