                                   LAERTES
            She is drowned?

                                   GERTRUDE
            Drowned, drowned.

                                   LAERTES
She knows water too much, therefore I forbid my tears.

                                   (Beat.)

                                   LAERTES (CONT'D)
Nature's custom holds, let shame say what it will.

                                   (He weeps.)

                                   LAERTES (CONT'D)
These will be the last drops of any weakness in me.  Allow me
to repair away, to manage with tears, what blazes in my
            chest.

                                   (Laertes exits.)

                                   CLAUDIUS
Let us follow him Gertrude.  I had just calmed him.

                                   GERTRUDE
This darkening melancholy dream, shall we ever awake?

                                   CLAUDIUS
            Come.

                                   (They exit.)
