State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland represents America's imperium. Arrogantly she said:
"Regardless of what happens politically in Venezuela, if the Venezuelan government and if the Venezuelan people want to move forward with us, we think there is a path that's possible."
"It is just going to take two to tango."
On January 8, the Chicago Tribune headlined "Venezuela after Chavez," saying:He's "almost certainly a no-show for Thursday's constitutionally scheduled inauguration."
Opposition leaders want "proof he's alive. Good luck getting answers out of the despots who run Venezuela - or Cuba."
The entire Tribune diatribe targeted Chavez mercilessly. Propaganda substituted for truth. He wants to be "president for life," he said. He may not outlive "the frail but lingering Castro."
Whoever governs Venezuela when he's gone "will preside over the mess" he made. He used the "national treasury like his personal ATM."- Advertisement -
"He spent billions in oil (propping) up Cuba." He "stockpile(s) Russian arms. He "buys friends in North Korea, Iran and China."
"He confiscated property, nationalized key industries, and drove out foreign investors."
"His revolution promised food, education and health care for the poor, but led to high unemployment, record inflation, and rampant crime."
It's hard imagining rubbish this bad gets published. Truth was turned on its head. Chavez transformed Venezuela responsibly.- Advertisement -
Popular needs are prioritized. Child mortality fell from 20 per 1,000 to 13. Unemployment dropped from 14.5% to 6.4%. In America, it's 23%. Austerity is prioritized.
Social contract protections are eroding. They're on the chopping block for elimination. Protracted Main Street Depression continues.
Growing millions are impoverished. Homelessless, hunger, and public rage keep rising. Venezuelan income inequality is Latin America's lowest.
