Often times the only solution to a problem that does not upset the status quo, is to kill all of the people that are causing the problem.

As Thomas Jefferson wrote to Abigail Adams in 1787, "The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere." Unfortunately, the members of the Tea Party, and Kirk Lyons, and all of their "fellow travelers," do not seem to realize that their actions are those most likely to precipitate an "open" dictatorship in this country.
There is a perversion of traditional conservative values,which has swept through the core of conservative politics since Goldwater's defeat in 1964. The so-called conservatives have moved so far to the right, that they would no longer have room for men like Robert Taft or Barry Goldwater in their ranks.
Whether it is members of the Tea Party openly displaying guns at political rallies, men like Kirk Lyons driving those who do not agree with his extreme views out of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, or John McCain unthinkingly demanding that we "pull the trigger," and "bomb, bomb, bomb--bomb, bomb Iran;" threats and violence are these fools' stock in trade, just like any other cowardly bully. There is no live and let live in their lexicon, only my way or the highway.
Democracy needs diversity, and the broad acceptance of that diversity, in order to survive. Until all of those on the right are willing to accept that fact, they, and their black and white view of reality, are the primary threat both to this nation and its Constitution: not national health care; not our burgeoning national debt; not al Qaeda, even if they had a nuclear weapon.
It is the height of human arrogance to believe that there is only one way to accomplish a particular goal, and that your way is that way. It is equally arrogant to attempt to force your view point on everyone else. To paraphrase Obi Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith, "Only the Dark Side deals in Absolutes."
The instruments of war and terror have become too horrible to consider, let alone use. Only through discussion, negotiation, compromise, and acceptance of others differences, is the future open to ourselves, and to our children.
Otherwise, we are all doomed to be accursed as the Children of Cain.
