Palin refused to let the local press in on the reasons for the mass dismissals during her very first days as Mayor, only telling the local press that "You know in your heart when someone is supportive of you." Palin also refused to answer if Emmons or Stambaugh's public support for Palin's political opponent, Mayor John Stein, during a hard fought election had anything to do with their termination other than telling the Daily News the letters calling for their resignation were simply a "test of loyalty."
In the last several days, the older more well known Palin stories such as 'LibraryGate' and 'TrooperGate' are hitting the news again, and these new articles with new information are being read by bookies and voters alike. 'LibraryGate' is receiving press again because Americans living in the Lower 48, including many parents and librarians, were upset to learn of Sarah Palin's repeated attempts to ban books in the Wasilla Public Library. No one knows which books she wanted to ban as she would not give the titles for any she found objectionable and Sarah Palin's actions in this entire affair has concerned many living in and outside Wasilla, Alaska. In just the last week, outrage and protests by librarians living in the Lower 48 have stirred a movement which led to the creation of a group called Librarians Against Sarah Palin.
'TrooperGate' is the on-going saga of the long-standing and bitter feud between Sarah Palin and her ex-brother-in-law, and so far has involved a plot filled with everything from a messy divorce and custody battle, the firing of Alaska Public safety Commissioner Monegan, an illegal moose in Mayor Palin's freezer and more story twists than a Desperate Housewives episode. Only the bookies involved in futures betting who realized early on the bad choice by John McCain in picking Sarah Palin as his running mate are finding these recent twists and turns in this ongoing rednecked soap opera amusing.
The 'TrooperGate' scandal has taken on new life as the press looks further into the actions of Palin and her family against various parties to this plot, actions by at least fourteen in her administration and the action of local Republicans attempting to delay until after the presidential election the Alaskan State Legislature investigation looking into these matters. The legal action by the Union representing Officer Wooten, Palin's ex-brother-in-law, is further escalating the original story and may be a scandal in its own right as it pertains to the unethical, possibly illegal, procurement of documents.
Savvy online gambling outfits are paying close attention to 'TrooperGate' and 'LibraryGate' while also keeping a close eye on the unfolding 'UnionGate' and 'DelaytheSenateInvestigationGate' and are more aware of the upcoming and soon to be publicized, 'FlirtationGate' than the average American voter.
'FlirtationGate' involves Sarah Palin, Todd Palin, City Councilman Brad Hanson and his former wife. Political bookies and political junkies both are already watching and waiting for the next episode in the newest Wasilla reality show, this one involving the possible sexual infidelity of the woman chosen by John McCain as his running mate in his bid for the Office of President of the United States, an office she may inherit due to his poor health and recurrent cancer.
Todd Palin, the quiet one of the family, may not have played as large a role in this latest political soap as he did in 'TrooperGate' other than his actions taken as a firm believer in marital fidelity. Upon the merest hint of a flirtatious relationship between his wife and long term friend and partner, Brad Hanson, even though the relationship may not have involved any physical consummation of desires, Todd Palin immediately dissolved their business partnership, selling the Polaris snow machine dealership owned by him and Hanson.
'FlirtationGate' created a loss of a friendship enjoyed for many years between the two couples, Mr. and Mrs. Palin and Mr. and Mrs. Hanson, and led to the sealing of the Hanson divorce documents along with a fervent wish now held by Brad Hanson, a City Councilman in Palmer City, to stay below the radar in this soon to be nationally exposed backwoods love story.
McCain campaign senior adviser Steve Schmidt's response to the National Enquirer's delving into this story:
“The smearing of the Palin family must end. allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Governor Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false."
The response of The National Enquirer, which also broke the story on the John Edwards affair, was simply they will run the story even though Republican candidate for the Office of President, John McCain, is now threatening a lawsuit.
Vindictive? Controlling? Racist? Flirtatious? News reporters from the Lower 48 are on the ground in Wasilla and surrounding communities are daily providing new information and further confirmation as to who Sarah Palin is and oddsmakers are following these unfolding revelations closely. As more Alaskans speak out, including those who have been telling reporters that calling Alaska’s Aboriginal people 'Arctic Arabs', 'mukluks' or simply 'f**king Eskimo’s' is the norm for Sarah Palin, it will not only affect the online betting odds, it will only further highlight the poor decision making capabilities of John McCain and the odds of him reaching the Office of President of the United States with his ex-small town rednecked beauty queen in tow.
