Mullen notes, The basis of eating raw, living, sun-food is about becoming more connected to the food that we eat, knowing and understanding where this food is coming from, and then making a conscious effort to allow ourselves to eat the best food ever.  The movement is about celebrating Mother Earth and all the bountiful foods she creates. The better people eat, the more they will feel a connection to her and treat her in beautiful ways.

Radio host Laura Fox calls raw veganism,  "The Sustainable Feast." She was suffering from hypoglycemia, headaches, overweight, and fatigue, when she went raw, “cold turkey.” As host and founder of the popular radio shows Visionary Culture, (www.visionarycultureradio.com ), Raw Inspirations  (formerly The Raw Spirit Show), and Anchor The Dream visionary theater, Laura Fox is a mover and shaker in the raw vegan movement.

She says, Shifting behaviors to accommodate a more balanced, nature-oriented diet is one of the most challenging things we can do—yet it is also one of the MOST satisfying. Because inside, we KNOW. We know we are helping ourselves, we know we are helping the planet, we know we are moving forward.

As a raw vegan educator, Laura has taught numerous classes on Raw Gourmet Food Prep, and currently offers a one-day Raw Vegan Chef Certification Course, which gives enthusiasts the basics for preparing delicious, nutritious, divine raw vegan foods for their families and communities.

Raw goddess, Victoria Boutenko, author of a recyclable bagful o’ books, including Green for Life and the upcoming Green Smoothie Revolution: The Radical Leap Toward Natural Health, makes her smoothies sound so fabulous that I put her book down and made one—and she’s right, they are amazing!

In her well-researched, but easy to read Green for Life, she reveals what she uncovered about the diets of chimpanzees, who share an estimated 99.4% of the same DNA sequence with humans: they choose a much higher proportion of greens in their diet than humans currently do. Clever, those chimps.

In fact, when chimpanzees and university students went head-to-head in a short-term memory test, the chimps scored higher! (http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/270939 ).

Scientists at the Chimpanzee & Human Consciousness Institute at Washington Central University have discovered that these primates have their own language, culture, and cognitive capacities, concluding, By any reasonable definition, chimpanzees should be categorized as a people.

Boutenko asks: instead of innoculating healthy chimps with our diseases so we can study illness, why not study their natural good health to see what might be applicable to enhancing our own wellness?

And that’s just what she did, and uncovered a cornucopia of new insights about diet and how balancing specific percentages of different types of foods support wellbeing. The addition of green smoothies to the menu, to mimic more closely the proportions of greens that chimps include in their diet, resulted in radical wellness for her family and a group of subjects in a test experiment. Fast Food, Rawvolution style: Each week, Chef Matt Amsden and RAWvolution create “to go” boxes of prepared, organic, low-calorie raw foods. If you aren’t lucky enough to live in Santa Monica, the box can be shipped overnight from their California or New York locations.(www.rawvolution.com)

Amsden says, I knew that to really turn people on to raw food, I had to take the excuses out of it. People don't always know what raw ingredients to buy, where to buy them, how to prepare raw foods, where to get the equipment. Often they don't have the time, training or inclination to prepare raw food … when I started the RAWvolution service in 2001, we served just a few customers a week in the Santa Monica area. Now we typically ship over 100 boxes out across the US, each week. Happy diners include Susan Sarandon, Cher, Alicia Silverstone, and Supermodel Carol Alt who says (His) food is so delicious you can't believe that it exists on this earth.
