Some states are switching from touch-screens to optical scanners, but – let’s be perfectly clear – they are another form of computerized voting that belongs to private, for-profit corporations, counting our votes secretly on proprietary software that they don’t feel obligated to reveal. Optical scanners share many of the same problems, lulling us into a false and misplaced sense of security.
