Cindy became an international heroine for single handedly confronting the war promotion of government and corporate America through ‘big brother’ conglomerate owned media. She must have asked herself many times, what if her Casey had NOT be killed, but just the all so many other boys like Casey, as were already dying prior to Casey's death? Would she ever have come to be as consummately devoted to everyone’s protection, fiercely dedicating all her time and resources as she has been during these three years since his death? One supposes Cindy has questioned herself over and over again in devastating remorse, why oh why she waited until Casey was KILLED, waited until it was HER son who was killed to become a politically educated and a dynamic and articulate activist, so galvanized into spectacular action.
We, who have come to love Cindy so much, and admire her being so creatively articulate, must certainly attempt to console her by pointing out that it was, albeit horribly so, Casey's death, which awarded her with the credentials of an aggrieved mother, with the right of attention to her words of protest and condemnation of the senseless taking of lives, forcing media to recognize her tragic suffering and justified outrage.
Cindy’s confession has made countless families think more carefully, especially those mothers still in favor of the Iraq invasion, bombing and occupation, who might be brought to a deeper consideration of their parental responsibility to make an effort to educate themselves to the inhumane and unethical aspects of these wars, especially in view of the desires of the indigenous peoples of the countries militarily occupied, who wish us to leave.
We are not privy to the conversations and discussions Casey and Cindy had prior to Casey's leaving for Iraq, and can only imagine in retrospect, the love, concern, and probable misgivings on the nature of the conflict in light of Cindy's incredible crusade thereafter. As we ponder Cindy's effective leadership that certainly is both inspiring and worthy of emulation for that someone who will step forward and carry her well established motherly cause onward, we must wish Cindy a nice rest and recuperation from all the harsh and uncivil words, from an abominably socially undereducated segment of perhaps the most politically disinterested population on earth, while hoping to hear from her again some day soon.
Spoke Cindy, on Memorial Day, “I have invested everything I have into trying to bring peace with justice to a country that wants neither.” Good-bye America ...you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can’t make you be that country unless you want it.” "The most devastating conclusion that I reached this morning, however, was that Casey did indeed die for nothing. His precious lifeblood drained out in a country far away from his family who loves him, killed by his own country which is beholden to and run by a war machine that even controls what we think. I have tried ever since he died to make his sacrifice meaningful.
The personally painful and embarrassing locked away memories of esteemed former key personalities of the establishment who have now planted themselves on the side of humanity, remain a potent potential force for change away from the perception of the past in chauvinistic, useless, arrogant and dangerously ignorant and misplaced pride.
While we await Cindy's return, Bill Moyer, please tell all, and Jimmy Carter please come clean for the sake of the people of the world, and for your own reputation and peace of mind and heart. Silence from both of you will not erase the truth already well documented for future reference. We wish to think highly of you and continue to appreciate your help.
