Looking at the involvement of the younger, first time voter, Obama has inspired so many to be more active, braver and more committed to a common good. We need to attract more people to politics to counter the many ethically wayward leaders running our affairs today. How many of us could say their lives would hold up to the scrutiny candidates face today?
Though he's only edged out Hillary, Obama has exceeded McCain's overall primary total by over five million votes. This means he's getting at least some Republicans who think we need to reduce our political sleaze quotient at home and abroad.
I applaud the notion that America's torn fabric might begin to be mended by calm, communication and a common good - after all, United is supposed to be our first name. There is no question in my mind who is the best candidate, on balance, and I invite thoughtful, civil discussion from any who feel differently.

*The finalized delegate/caucus count announced in April actually gave Obama a narrow win in Texas.
