I think the answer to "so?" may be an equally disdainful "you're not the boss of me." Think about it.

None of our candidates are worthy

I always like your writing Dave but I don't see any progress in having real elections. Mainly because there are few candidates for any office that are worthy. Also, as you pointed out, even those that know the votes won't be counted accurately, can't seem to address that fact. Beyond all that people have to care that their votes are counted and most people don't. They only care about their own comfort. It seems that they can't see how things like elections have a large impact on our lives. Americans have become so conditioned to terrible leaders that they simply don't care that they are terrible. Even if we count all the votes the differences between the candidates is so minimal as to be trivial.

I'm a concerned, middle aged blogger and member of the ACLU. I hail from the Bay Area. I Lobbied congress with the ACLU over the more unconstitutional elements of the USA Patriot Act. Marched in peace protests, lost a former school chum in the world trade center on 9/11.

The election process...

has become a canard in cahoots with the same corporations who control our media, choose our candidates and run our government. Thank you for pointing this out. The federal election process is a sham and it seems unlikely that anyone will do anything to change it anytime soon. It's like calling Bush incompetent over the Katrina disaster. This falls under the assumption that we believe politicians like us wish to do the right thing. What Bush did there was not incompetent. His agenda called for it and our own agenda is of little importance. Perhaps that is why this administration is so blatant. They know the electorate poses no threat to them, the democrats pose no real threat to them and that most Americans actually believe there is a democratic process in choosing and electing candidates.

I would like to add...

that I'm just as stupid as everyone else. I am giving my support to Obama in the hope we will elect someone who the corporations do not really see, someone who they see as their own but who like FDR is not. But until we fix this corrupt election process, there is little likelihood in that ever happening.
