Puerto Rico, Past , Present, and "Future"

He was happy about how easy it was to drive around the island. It reminded him of the days before Operation Bootstrap when the roads were safe and there were no car jacking or road rage. Even his wife had started enjoying driving again!

He was also happy that Haliburton had decided to leave Puerto Rico for good. They were too expensive and all they ever did was pollute the natural beauty of the Island. Besides, there was too much overcrowding. El presidente wanted to destroy the excess housing that was not needed anymore and plant trees.

Finally, he is happy because now he has given a new identity to all those poor souls who have been wandering around the USA and the rest of the world not knowing what a Puerto Rican was. He was proud because he had given his people a home and their identity back.

In regards to your PR article

I think it is great that you are informing people of who Puertorricans are. On the other hand, I do not agree with some of the comments you posted.
1- Most Latinos claim we do not pronounce the R or S: this is not a claim, this is a fact, the degree to which these sounds are modified depends on the social, economic and geographical background of the person.
2- 95% catholic: according to the CIA factbook -- it is 85%, Also, protestant religion in PR has political presence
3- Everyone has some African mixture - this is not true, it excludes recent immigration to PR from other countries, european and middle eastern immigration in the l800s, and racist ethnocentric values that disallowed racial intermarriage
4- Tainos were wiped out - according to recent matriarchal DNA study on puertoricans mtDNA, 62% have inherited Y chromosome DNA from Taino race, only 30% have African mtDNA, the puertorrican population is more mestizo than mulato

Overall, very interesting article.

Thanks,
