The pain and powerlessness of having one's life in the hands of murderous sociopaths that imprisoned human beings to toiling the fields was strong in the black spirituals.   Consider the following:

Today's experience doesn't even come close to the horrors the blacks went through during slavery days.   Yet, we must ask, is this top-down rule upon the blacks similar to the plight of working Chinese men and women slaving hours on end for outsourcing corporations?   Did the corporations move overseas to escape unions and being held accountable for appropriate living conditions for their workers?   Are the current day corporate owned governments simply a drama show to hide what is going on behind the scenes?   Can you picture your son or daughter working hours on end for the sake of lining corporate pocketbooks?   Can you picture a future for them that contains whip marks on their backs?

Can our future be just as filled with horrors as our past?   Are there atrocities hidden from our view already going on?   Yes!   Unless we develop the courage and persistence to look clearly at the truth, we will almost certainly become subject to even more widespread violations of human dignity.

The answer lies in in you.   Not in them.   Not in legislation.   The answer is in you and your neighbors.   WE write the law that people actually abide by, not the law written in the books.   It's a big quest and question regarding the ending of slavery, under all of its guises.   Please don't take it lightly.   Sing new songs of freedom loud into the deaf ears of the corporations.   They may not "get it," but your fellow human beings will.

As you listen to the ENVISION THIS interview of Tom and Sharon, think about where you want the world to go.   Don't just look at it from the standpoint of healing past wounds.   Look at it in terms of how we can empower ourselves in creating a just, sustainable and equitable future for the benefit of future generations for all species, sexes, races and place of origin on this planet.   Once you get your thoughts together, ACT!   Being responsible is not taking blame but taking action, responding. Blame is simply a position of powerlessness.   Realize you are power-full and then act.
