But that lower-brainstem fear of being eaten rather than being an eater is what the businessmen whose catspaws political conservatives are, wittingly or unwittingly depending on each individual case, count on to be sure business goes on as usual.

No one questions the system itself. No one who has a snowball's chance of gaining access to the levers of power ever questions capitalism itself.

And as Mr. Mulp pointed out before, if Bernie Sanders were to revert to the place in the political spectrum he inhabited while mayor of Burlington, Vermont: "Basically, if Bernie Sanders were president, he would have been totally ignored just like he was in the Senate."

"We may not get out of this one," read the headline of an article my discussion board's soi-disant gay Republican recently posted that didn't bash Obama or Democrats even once (you'll have to take my word that he did post something like that. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day).

But we may, and that is if liberals and progressives come en masse to   Freedom Plaza, or wherever our Tahrir Square ends up being, when they've been bitten hard enough not only by the not-to-be-repaired politicoeconomic crisis-- the Old capitalist Paradigm MUST implode, all vectors are inexorable-- to DEMAND the New Paradigm.

And against them are arrayed the Vince Lombardi School of Politics: those who want nothing more than to WIN, leading those who are scared to be eaten by their pliant noses.

My name is William Perkins Homans the third, but probably more people know me as the bluesman (and artist) Watermelon Slim.

I've been in the fight against war, fascism, injustice and inhumanity for 47 years. I was at MayDay, 1971, (more...)
