The article "Iraq Diary: The Law Of Survival" states that "US troops say they have been able to 'liberate' some of the villagers in Diyala province from al-Qaeda....Others fled further northwards, towards Mosul.

It has been the same pattern for the past five years - the US military clears one area and al-Qaeda pops up somewhere else.  Soldiers do admit that their enemy is sophisticated."

Big bro 43 takes us for a pack of fools incapable of sophisticated thought.  In Iraq they want to survive. That is the most basic human instinct, but W thinks he can pretend that it isn't.

"The area is Sunni so the people of Abu Musa were not targeted as long as they obeyed the rules.

In reality, the people of Abu Musa do not care who these fighters are. All they want is electricity, fuel, food and protection.  Whoever gives it to them – American or the Iraqi government - becomes their friend.

Another Al Jazeera article "Iraq Troops Prepare For Mosul Push" details how Iraqis will push against al-Qaeda in Mosul.

It states "Iraqi troop reinforcements are being sent to the northern city of Mosul for an operation against al-Qaeda fighters, security officials have said....

US military commanders say the al-Qaeda group has regained power in northern Iraq after being forced out of the western province of Anbar and from around Baghdad last year."

"Whack-a-mole" isn't going to work. Al-Maliki's boys in blue are Shiite and love killing Sunnis. They can attack al-Qaeda in Mosul and if some innocent Sunnis get caught up in the violence, it makes their genocide attempts easier. "US and Iraqi troops have launched a series of offensives in northern provinces this year targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq.

The US military said last week that “al-Qaeda fighters killed 3,870 civilians and wounded almost 18,000 last year, launching 4,500 attacks in Iraq.  Despite frequent violence in northern Iraq, overall attacks across the country have fallen."

W alleged that "Operation Iraqi Freedom" was to bring democracy to the Middle East.  Big bro 43 fed us an "Herr Karl" line that the Iraqi democracy would act as an example and soon democracy would flourish in the region. Who believed that?  It was probably the same louts who believed Hussein was involved in 9/11 and worked with bin laden.

Democracy isn't flourishing in Gaza or Lebanon! And Iran is the victor in this war for Iraq's oil!

The article "Gaza Crisis Dominates Peace Talks" makes you wonder how there can be a thrust for peace while the two sides are killing each other. Remember 1984's "War is Peace"!

The article states, "Talks between the Israeli and Palestinian leaders have been dominated by the Israeli siege of Gaza and the border crisis with Egypt.

Ehud Olmert, Israel's prime minister, and Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, met on Sunday for regularly scheduled peace talks.  But issues such as the status of Jerusalem and the right of return for Palestinian refugees were overshadowed by the border turmoil."

The article "Lebanon Mourns Riot Victims" describes how "The Lebanese prime minister has called for a national day of mourning  after eight people were killed in street protests over power cuts that descended into violence in the mainly Shia southern suburbs of Beirut.”

Winston is an ex-Social Worker, burnt out by too much indifference regarding our weak and weary. I had little interest in politics until the illegal Iraq War started.
