Newly declassified portions of a new National Intelligence Estimate — which indicates that Iran is no longer actively developing a nuclear weapon — are part of an effort by the US intelligence community to avoid a repeat of its mistakes in the run-up to war with Iraq, former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton told Fox News. “They’re so concerned about overstating the threat in Iraq, that they’re overcompensating in the wrong direction,” Bolton said. “You know they’ve changed their estimate on Iran from just two years ago. One has to ask why we should be more inclined to believe this one today than the one two years ago.” A 2005 NIE reported Iran was “determined” develop nuclear capability. Bolton characterized the White House as having been taken aback by the new NIE report’s conclusions. “I think they were floored by it, since it’s inconsistent with what the intelligence community was telling them as recently as a week ago,” he said. “In fact, members of the House and Senate were briefed on this last week, and there was no mention of the suspension point. So, I think there are some questions that need to be raised about how this thing was put together and what its conclusions are.” MUCH MORE + VIDEO Even though we know Russia’s stated intent in regard an attack against Iran, which was covered in this story: Asia Times: Attack Iran and you attack Russia - Is Washington Listening The Russians are becoming irate with the US and NATO , we can’t forget the Chinese are also backing Iran - although not as negatively in public as Russia, but none of us know what the internal thinking is - although I do have some thoughts on their intentions. If we were to attack Iran, I’d guess China will attempt to annex Taiwan militarily, knowing that we were stretched too thin to risk another engagement if we were fighting Iran. In fact, that’s the only behind the scenes diplomatic maneuver I can think of that would keep China from becoming militarily involved with Iran’s defense. If the Bush administration believes they can coerce Russia and China via a nuclear retaliation threat, the situation would escalate rapidly, and none of us are able to figure-out where such a scenario would lead, but I have a firm belief that too many countries are becoming alarmed at our aggression, and the US is viewed by many as unstable and dangerous. This, in my opinion, places our entire country at risk. To those that believe Bush and Cheney have made America safer, I’d suggest reading some real news rather than filling-up with the worthless blather spewed my America’s Mainstream News Media. Conflicts are on the rise as the global community suffers under the effects of global warming and a dwindling food supply LINK, and inflated oil prices are affecting the global community, not just us. The super-powers are in a race to claim and negotiate future energy contracts, and the United States, already deeply in debt, is no longer able to compete with a dollar that is weakened to the point that many believe the US is headed for a massive recession that could make The Great Depression seem like a walk in the park. LINK LINK In consideration of the above, it would seem logical that impeaching President Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney may be a matter of survival for the United States - not one of political preference or choice. The crimes of the Bush administration have been told too many times for me to reiterate it again, but now we are faced with a situation where our government still appears intent on starting another war - and to allow these two scoundrels to plunge us into another war that could easily escalate into World War III is utter madness. Congress must forget whatever this administration is doing to coerce their votes and come to the realization that if they don’t act, and soon, their cowardice and inaction could easily be responsible for plunging us into a worldwide catastrophe. On the positive side, imagine the effect the impeachment of Bush and Cheney would have on the dollar! The world’s confidence in our country is at an all-time low, and impeaching these tyrants would send a message to the world community that we’ve re-entered the global community once again as a free and democratic nation, which would help to ease tensions around the world and help to mitigate a recession/depression that is coming if we don’t act quick to plan a course of action or otherwise attempt to deal with it instead of telling consumers “everything if fine, spend, spend, spend” and thereby going further into debt. The Bush administration, their cronies and insiders, as well as corporate America have already stolen our economic future, and we collectively owe approximately 30,000.00 per person, which equates to a financial impact that will affect our children and may impact future generations as well. They already have our money; will we stand idly by while they risk our lives as well? If we can defeat the “Thought Crime Prevention Bill”, then to insure our survival as a people, impeachment may be the next measure we will have to back, and it will be for self-preservation and survival rather than a matter of partisan politics. http://justanothercoverup.com/ I am nothing more than a patriotic American that is doing whatever I can to further the cause of democracy, the rule of law, and am absolutely outraged on how the Bush administration is defying our Congress, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights! Footnote: I write in a style that I believe is appropriate in today's world where we can't trust the Mainstream News Media, and rather than concentrating on one article alone, which may or may not receive the exposure and emphasis it should, I prefer to meld several relevant stories together, that each taken alone may not expose the entire situation, but when taken-in as a whole, tend to give the reader a better understanding of the subject. One article or story alone does not represent the "Big Picture" - but when several are effectively tied-together it often reveals a trend or broader view of the subject matter that is important to completely understand any given situation. http://justanothercoverup.com/
