Is the reason we aren’t asking the truly difficult questions of conscience because we don’t want to hear the answers? If not wanting to uncover the truth is the reason for not asking the difficult questions, than we are acting in a manner inconsistent and incompatible in maintaining any type of democracy in our nation. Do we really want to go down this road? We still have a chance to change our direction, although the chance is getting smaller with each passing day. We are the ones that must reap what has been sown. It’s time that we started speaking truth to power, even if the answers are difficult to acknowledge and accept. Unless we know the scope of this threat to our republic, we will never have the ability to eliminate it.
