I know whose side I'm on. I cannot believe that anyone who claims to ally themselves with the progressive blogosphere would choose to stand against him on the side of McAuliffe and Harold Ford--or believe that an outcome leading to the triumph of McAuliffe over Dean would be remotely acceptable.

Whose side are you on?

The DLC is Desperate

It is difficult to determine if their desperation has led them to make principle subservient to ambition or if this is just how they are.

In any event, I don't see a scenario where they will be returned to the White House. The best they can do for the sheep's clothing set is to ensure a "Republican victory". I placed that last term in quotation marks, because a "Republican victory" is not an electoral victory in the traditional sense. It is a situation where they can get close enough to let Diebold, et al flip the results with a reduced chance of getting famous for it.

If the nomination is secured by Hillary Clinton and her K Street crowd (including McAuliff) she is certain to motivate the Republican base while leaving the Democratic base yawning at home. This will be Karl Rove's belated Christmas. That gets them as close as they can get and minimizes the number of votes that they have to steal.

If John Edwards were to be nominated, he would mobilize the Democratic base, but also the Corporatist Republicans, and would inspire Corporatist Democrats to stay home. The consoling factor is that the Corporatists are what they themselves consider to be the elite, so they keep their own numbers down. Edwards' margin would be larger.

If Barack Obama Wins the nod, he can turn out the Democratic base, disillusion the Republican base, and draw independents and even some Republicans to rally to his cause. This would present a prohibitively large margin for Mssrs. Rove and Diebold to overcome.

If Dennis Kucinich were to somehow win the Democratic nomination, the likely scenario would be for Dubya to declare martial law and abolish elections.

Of course, none of this takes into account the array of fascist tactics that will be deployed against any of the Democratic nominees, but I am working on the assumption that no candidate is completely immune to the slander, so the effects upon each will be more or less equal.

What?

Howard Dean is still around? You wouldn't know it. I reminded of the Star trek episode, Captain Dunsel.

Like I mentioned in a recent article I wrote, I read where Hillary said, "New Hampshire would provide Americans with a demonstration of how votes are really counted in America."  Of coure the overt intent was to predict her come back against all polls and popular wisdom. Some of us though took her at her word and my, didn't we see just what she said we would see. No?

Excellent Article!

But I don't think that Dean's job is in any danger at all. He's sone a very good job the past two years, and he gets a lot of credit for doing so. Also, Kerry was the best choice for a candidate who can "win" in 2004. It's just too bad he ran a toothless campaign.

On The Flip Side

If the establishment DLC and Clinton's machine manage to alienate so much of the base (and they are well on the way to doing so) then it may result in God forbid, a GOP president (McCain-Lieberman is looking like a distinct possibility) and enough of a depressed turnout by independents and real Democrats who are sick enough of this elitist bullshit to sit this one out to throw Congress back to the Republicans as well.

Keep in mind that the system itself been going through a purge of it's own in casting off the most extreme elements like DeLay, Santorum, Rove etc and that other than Il Duce Rudy whoever emerges as the eventual GOP nominee may easily win by running against the hated she devil Hillary.

The DLC and the corporate Democrats may very well be the ones who are going to go up in a large blaze of their own creation after foolishly playing with matches and bedding down with the Wall Street bloodsuckers.

Just my two cents
