Marla, a happy San Fernando Valley lady called to relate her story about how, years ago, the Daily News exposed the little off-white fib she told her kids’ school to check them out for the afternoon -- the old medical appointment canard.

Dental appointments was one of my favorites and was always believed.

They got to Dodger Stadium and her son, proudly clad in his Dodger shirt went onto the field before the game to get a autograph from his favorite player, Eric Karos.

Therein hangs the tale of getting caught, because a Daily News photographer captured the thrill of it all in a photo that appear the next day on the front page.

Busted! Big Time, and Marla said that will always be one of her family’s happiest memories.
