He's your pope and the cardinals are your leaders.

If you choose to forgive and forget, as they will forget all their promises to change, you have no one but yourselves to blame when it happens again, and an entire new generation of children -- your children -- are victimized.

A writer is a rogue goose. All other gees fly in a flock formation; every goose knows his place and time for honking. The rogue goose is undisciplined. He leaves the formation indiscriminately to have a look at it from aside. He roams back and forth, takes a peep at the leader, honks a little bit from behind, distracts everyone and writes on what he sees. Time passes and as he wants to return back to his place he discovers someone else there. Thus he either has to wait until they land for rest...

This is not to insult Catholics

but I want to point out that  we here went ballistic about  the Pope, the offiicial leader of the ONLY branch of  Christianity which EATS  the body of Christ ( sorry, swallows) and DRINKS his blood. NO other  branch of Christianity does that. And we  here do not consider that weird and we do not throw insults at them as we throw, say at Islam on a regular basis. BTW, that did not stop us from killing millions of Vietnamese who had been  very good Catholics.

I would argue that pedophilia is not only a Catholic Church vice. But   only the Catholic Church is a corporation and that corporation breeds, raises and uses its own employees. It is thus   behaving as a closed- circle Carlyle group and has to acknowledge that ( Dream on).

So, returning back to the matter of  strange customs I would urge  that I  would prefer the real Pope not to go to Washington but to New Orleans ( did he go there? Naa) and have there a mass in that Stadium, a mourning mass for all those perished and then maybe -  throw a good meal for all parishioners in the MOST CATHOLIC city of the USA. But he did not.  Hey,  Catholics, what do you think?  How many pieces of the body of Christ do you have to swallow  before the Church throws you a free dinner?Dream on as I said.

I guess

in Europe the legalized or half- legalized prostitution fills the void and in the poor countries... the poor women fill the void. It would be very naive to consider that male priests  would not find a way to satisfy their desires and the history of the Catholicism proves that. Not that other priests of other religions  don't do that.  But in the US  such things can result in lawsuits and... Catholic Church  as an organization is by far the  most..property- oriented. That simple.

There are many abusive priests in other countries.

Go to www.bishop-accountability.org

Look at the "Abuse Tracker."  Each day the tracker posts all news stories regarding clergy abuse from around the world.

PappyHarpist, unemployed blue collar worker, and Bush basher living deep in the heart of Texas.

They are also as empty as his eyes.

As a cardinal, the present pope was one of those who played, "hide the priests that hide the sausage on kiddies." His words and his prayers ring as hollow as the reasoning that would put a man even slightly tainted by just the slightest whiff of Nazism into such a high office, when there were clearly more pious, worthy, and beneficent men ready, willing, and able to wear a miter.

The happenings of the Catholic church here of late make me ever happier that I gave up Catholicism for Lent when I was eighteen. The maddened throng willing to throw themselves at the soiled hem of the pope's skirt proves standard religious willing ignorance.

It's sad, it's pathetic, but it's par for the course.

Blessed be!
Pappy

Institutions

When Bishop Mahoney looked into the news cameras and said they were 'sorry if they had offended anyone.'

My initial reaction was that I was looking EVIL right in the EYE! I am a product of twelve years of Catholic education and I believe from all that I have studied then and since that Catholicism is the Mother Christian religion and the foundation institution of Christianity. When the foundation trembles it shakes all religions. There are all the differences that make up humanity in all churches but the Catholic Church reaction to all the abuse as an institution was criminal. Institutional corruption is inevitable but this is evil!
