Bush Still Wants A Mock Court to Cover For His Mock Terror War

Only in some alternate universe, where up is down and war is peace, will there be a time when American generations can look back on the Bush wars, and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, with pride. Despite our indiscriminate and defensive shootings, our deadly and disruptive search and destroy missions, the indefinite detentions of thousands, and all of the rest of the deliberate and collateral killings of innocents, the Bush regime wants Americans to embrace their imperialism as a necessary defense against terror.

Small point to the U.S. regime, perhaps, that the rest of the world now sees Bush and his militarism as the most dangerous threat they face. At least 28 troops now face charges stemming from the deaths of Iraqis, fourteen have already been convicted, three acquitted. Easier to conjure clean hands on Pontius Pilate than absolve the calculating bunch at the head of this military plutocracy.

I wonder what it is that makes the republicans in power hate democracy so? Is it the limits that our system of justice threatens to place on their militarism? Is it the scrutiny our justice system imposes on their summary convictions in their 'terror war'? Or, is it something deeper; some inherent hatred of our democracy, its checks and balances placing limits on their ability to reign supreme?

Condi, Rummy, Bush, and others are looking on with sad resignation as their protege' Maliki angles to release the bulk of the captured Iraqis the Americans so coveted, even as the marauding forces increase the numbers of Iraqis held every day as a result of their continued raids and military muckraking.

Once the Gitmo cells are cleared out, the Bush regime be left with only a handful of captives to satiate the public over their inability to actually capture the ringleader of the collapse of the World Trade towers. Hard to justify their high ticket terror war with only a dwindling number of likely suspects and a handful of hapless foot soldiers caught in Afghanistan.
