Expect your opponent to argue that Iran is an immediate danger. So was Saddam and his weapons of mass destruction. If we're going to deal with the threat of nuclear terrorism, don't waste our time attacking Iran, starting another unplanned for disaster like Iraq. Go after the nukes and nuke materials from the old soviet union, and from Pakistan. Invest our resources in real defense, not crazy wars based on right wing extremist fantasies and paranoia.
28. Do you agree or disagree that the U.S. should consider a pre-emptive use of nuclear weapons on a nation that has not attacked or declared war on us?

1. Agree 2. Disagree 3. Not sure

Now some health-related questions.

Health Insurance for All Working Americans
Total: 69/20 Independents: 62/15
Democrats: 96/3 Republicans: 44/40
Do you have the independence and guts to stand up for this spin on single payer health care. Those on social security get medicaid. Retirees get medicare. Veterans get VA health care benefits. By a huge margin, among independents and Democrats, and even a majority of Republicans support health care for anyone working. True, this leaves out the unemployed, but this could be written to include laid off workers as long as they are looking for work.. Taking the next step to single payer health care for all would be a small one after including all workers. The down side is you will not make health insurers or big pharma companies happy.
37. Do you agree or disagree that all working U.S. citizens should receive health insurance coverage?

1. Agree 2. Disagree 3. Not sure

Paper Ballots
Total: 88/10 Independents: 91/7
Democrats: 96/3 Republicans: 76/19
By a huge margin, among all voters, the support for paper ballot records is a winner. If your candidate's opponent has not signed on to the bill in the house or senate, or at the state level, or voted to go electronic, this is a winner.

The following are three statements about electronic voting. Please tell me which statement comes closest to your point of view - A, B, or C?

Statement A: Electronic voting is efficient and trustworthy. It will make voting easier, count ballots quicker, and avoid the problems associated with counting paper ballots.

Statement B: Electronic voting is okay only if there is a paper trail, much like ATM machines which provide you with a printed receipt. That way voters can verify that their vote is recorded correctly and there is no risk of the electronic records being lost, hacked or manipulated with no verifiable record.

Statement C: There should be no electronic voting. We should only use voting machines which use paper ballots or old, reliable lever machines.

1. A 2. B 3. C 4. None/other 5. Not sure

Abortion
Total: 67/27 Independents: 75/20
Democrats: 92/5 Republicans: 33/57
Born agains: 73/25
PA Statewide and in big city areas, abortion is a winning issue for progressives, Democrats, greens. Other polls have also shown this to be true nationwide, but be careful in local races. In blue states, this should be a winner.

18. Do you agree or disagree that a woman has the right to choose an abortion?

1. Agree 2. Disagree 3. Not sure

Self Reliance and Self Responsibility Health Care vs Drugs
Total: 63/20 Independents: 76/12
Democrats: 71/8 Republicans: 48/36
Big pharma sees the American public as a potential customer base. For profit health insurers love drug solutions, because they are cheaper than surgeries or behavioral therapies. But 55% of independents thing the excessive use of prescription drugs is a threat to our national character-to our values of self reliance and responsibility. The solution is support for insurance reimbursement for non-drug treatments that build personal responsibility and self-relianceMake your opponents contributions from Big Pharma an issue of national character.
39. Health care insurance should provide coverage for the cost of training patients to develop health habits based on personal responsibility and self-reliance, even though , in some cases it may cost more. The price to maintain the values of self-reliance and personal responsibility is worth it?

1. Agree 2. Disagree 3. Not sure

Pick a few of these-the ones you can discuss most effectively, the ones you can weave with your personal stories best. Identify the issues among these for which your opponent is most vulnerable. If you use these strategies, let me know how it goes.
