We have forgotten how to pronounce the word impeachment and removal from office. We cannot bring ourselves to repeal the election of those in congress who work not on our behalf, but on behalf of the big check, deep pocket lobbyists.
Like some political nightmare straight from the pen of Edgar Allen Poe, our Lost Lenore has become America. We must take responsibility for this because we let it happen – we elected the very people who now bring a frightening new world to our door steps and steam rolls over us. We have shown ourselves and the world that the American backbone is broken, our will has become apathy, and we bought it hook, line, and reelections of those who work against our common good.
Come November 2008, we might find ourselves sitting shiva over the demise of the 22nd Amendment. On second thought, make that the Constitution itself, except for the Second Amendment which will remain intact and cherished.
