In Islam, this principle is totally wrong and void because truth according to Islam is that which is in accordance with the Koran and the Sunna - the tradition of the Prophet - , whether its supporters are few or many; and that which contradicts the Koran and the Sunna is false even if all the people of the world agree on it.
Absolutely, we conclude to the fact that it's difficult for Arab and Muslim countries and pro-democracy false Muslims to apply both Islam and democracy at the same time. So Muslims would have to choose between their religion and American-style democratic regimes.
I think as far as Bush administration's officials think that the Iraqi version of democracy is, however, taking a form completely unlike anything George Bush and his advisers ever imagined.
In short, as for the policy makers in the Bush administration, they will, sooner or later, have to face reality and deal with al Qaeda-type organizations and other extremist Islamic groups, as they have found themselves forced to play ball with the anti-democratic religious fighters in an Iraq occupied by their troops.
Today, it is reasonable to say that the failure of both Arab political Islamist and American-style capitalism to deliver the goods to the bulk of the population, leaves a probable majority of brave Muslim youths ready to try the Third Way of Islam (jihad.)

Turkey - A democracy (shaky admittedly) in a muslim country.
So is it really the MALE ARAB mindset that won't accept democracy? In which case should not madrassas be banned? Or can you point out another arab male polarizing feature (ie cultural institution) that has such influence on their mindset.
/Personally I prefer the Alexander solution, it worked then ;)

You state that "Islam and democracy are not compatible." That is absolutely false as the Qur'an states very clearly that "their decision is subject to a process of discussion and debate amongst them".
The idea of consultation among the leaders of the people which evolved into a Congress came from Islam. I think once we (Muslims) begin to understand our own history and Qur'an we will start the cultural revolution.

Ok Mr. Neal AbuNab, your idea is called "Islamic Shoura" or "Consultation" that does not rely on the majority like democracy.
Mr. AbuNab, I call on you to read about the "Islamic Shoura". And I think, if you are a Muslim, what I have said is well-known facts and it has been clear to all Muslim that the principle of majority is totally wrong and void because truth according to Islam is that which is in accordance with the Koran and the Sunna, whether its supporters are few or many "majority"; and that which contradicts the Koran and the Sunna is false even if all the people of the world agree on it...
For instance, the majority in a Muslim parliament can approve the wine sale in which this clearly contradicts the Koran "the Muslim Constitution"... this means that Democracy is non-Muslim religion... I hope you to understand it, Muslims do not need a Human-made Constitution, they have a perfected Constitution came down to the earth 1400 years ago in which this Constitution is valid for every times and in every Muslim places.
Well, I'm proud of being a Democrats, and what I have written in my article doesn't reflect my status, and doesn't mean that I'm extremist Muslim or that sympathizing with al-Qaeda, not at all.
I'm just a Journalist and researcher on Islamic militants in which I must to write what I see and hear from the majority, not from the minority. And, of course, what I have written was not my opinion, but it was my clear observation and I think this is the truth of Islam.
