3.) Media Consolidation. As it stands, the Federal Communications Commission may further ease the decades-old media ownership rules, which includes, according to the New York Times, “repealing a rule that forbids a company to own both a newspaper and a television or radio station in the same city.” This is but another in a cascade of slippery slopes into further media consolidation. The final vote on this measure is set to go forth in December. Further consolidation leads to less diversity and suffocation of the noble first intentions set out by early news media: Civic education through the action of a "marketplace of ideas". Ideas like: “Kucinich 2008”. Dennis Kucinich represents the very best of what America has to offer. Men like him don’t go away. They just need people like us to pay attention.
