MSNBC’s Chris Matthews asked Ron Paul in this YouTube.com feed, “How come they get sucked into it?” meaning the large number of Democrats and independents concerning war propaganda and why they do not dominate the politics. Ron Paul stated, “I have no idea and wonder about this, but they will be sucked into every time. It’s almost human history that they do.” My guess is when he says, “They have to build up fear” he means political parties. It has been six long years of being feared and it boggles the mind that many do not crave liberty and freedom from this fear and will allow for this tactic to be used at every turn.
What choice are independents given if both parties give us candidates like Giuliani and Clinton? Voting for either candidate will be like voting for the lesser of two evils. I do not see much of a difference between the two. Both are dead wrong when it comes to our foreign policy and the spending that goes along with it. We do not have endless resources to fund these insane wars. I do not fear Iran; I fear my next tax bill, my next oil and electric bill, my next food bill instead of President Ahmadinejad.
Exactly what foreign policy experience does Rudy bring to the table? It was reported a few weeks ago that “Three former advisors to Margaret Thatcher - Robert Conquest, Nile Gardiner and David Pryce-Jones - have been appointed to Rudy Giuliani's campaign team:” Need I say more?
Speaking of spending and thanks to both parties, Cafferty relayed to the audience on Lou Dobb’s show, “we're approaching $10 trillion in debt in this country.” And that is thanks to both Republicans and Democrats alike. My message to both parties is, you are gambling with our money and our future.
When Sullivan mentioned, “Those who want to see a Republican in the White House come 2009 should be very careful how they treat Ron Paul and his supporters. He has the potential to become a very effective spoiler in the general election.” I highly doubt he would run an independent campaign.
Personally, it is my dream that someday I will see an independent candidate that is able to blow both parties out of the water and an independent candidate that is willing to represent the needs of Middle class Americans who have been left behind in the dust by both parties.
It would be sheer Utopia in which our country is led by elected officials who are actually beholden to ‘we the people’ instead of party leaders and special interest groups.
As both parties speak of domestic plans and how they will address our needs as a people or the further promulgation of this unending war on terror; let me ask them with what money? Look at the number above, we are $10 trillion dollars in debt.
Before reading Andrew Sullivan’s column, I was trying to put down in words how I felt of both parties and the top-tier candidates. It was not until reading his column; the words did come to me.
Are candidates like Hillary and Rudy the best both parties have to offer the American people? Those are the likely candidates we will be given based upon polls and it is my hope that the voters within both parties prove those polls dead wrong.
To members of both the Republican Party and Democratic Party, I like many other independents are putting the challenge to both of you to give us candidates that we too can rally around. Ignore the media as they concentrate on the front-runners of both parties and ignore the hierarchy within both parties and listen to your inner voice. Please ask yourselves is Hillary and Rudy truly the best you have to offer all of us? The future of this country depends upon you doing so.
