My alienated, poisoned mind is learning to hate their demons. Words – I need words to carry a message of hope. Then everything can change! We can care. We can believe!
It’s not only about you. You are not the only one who hurts.
Grow up and help the children, the ohana.
Don’t just listen. Make the music you are meant to do.
With back straight the images feed my soul like a prayer
O please, let me in the picture.
It is time for hope.
Barry spent four years in New York, two years in college and then worked in an office on Wall Street after graduation. This is when he decided he wanted to be a community organizer and go by the name of Barach. Can you imagine leaving a good paying job in New York, moving to the South side of Chicago and working for a fraction of what he could have made? He wanted to learn up close and personal, in the trenches, about the people and what they cared about. He wanted to help them find their voices and help them create action to get jobs, schools, and decent living conditions. And he also wanted to find his place within this new community; his ohana .
He was just 24 when he went to work in Chicago helping the people get what they needed.
After a few years Barack Obama went to Africa for the first time to see his family. As it turned out, his father, Dr. Obama, had quite a large family. When Obama returned he went on to Harvard to get his law degree. By the time he became a United States Senator, he was married to Michelle, had two children and was just 43 years old.
The first time I ever heard of Barack Obama was when he was chosen to give the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic Convention. People have been buzzing about Barack Obama ever since. When I think of Barack, I visualize him wearing a lei and saying “Aloha, ohana!” I really like Hawaiian values and I have a great respect for the way Barack Obama has done his pono to ‘get himself right’.
