Below is a transcript of Durbin’s statement.

Statement of Sen. Durbin on InconsistencyBetween Intelligence Briefings and Bush Administration StatementsSpeech on the Senate Floor April 28, 2007

“A few hundred feet away from here in a closed room, carefully guarded, the Intelligence Committee was meeting on a daily basis for top secret briefings about the information we were receiving and the information we had on the Intelligence Committee was not the same information that was being given to the American people.  I couldn’t believe it. Members of this administration were in active heated debate over whether aluminum tubes really meant that the Iraqis were developing nuclear weapons some within the administration were saying of course not it is not the same kind of aluminum tube.  At the same time members of the administration were telling the American people to be fearful of mushroom shaped clouds. I was angry about it.  Frankly, I could not do much about it cause you see, on the Intelligence Committee we’re sworn to secrecy. I could not go outside the door and say the statement made yesterday by the WH is in direct contradiction to classified information that’s being given to this Congress.  We can’t do that. We couldn’t make those statements.

“So, in my frustration I sat here on the floor of the Senate and listened to this heated debate about invading Iraq and thinking the American people are being misled. They are not being told the truth. That’s why I twenty-two members of my colleagues in voting no.  I did not feel at the time that the American people knew the real facts.

“So what happened, we invaded, turned loose, hundreds if not thousands of people looking for these weapons of mass destruction. Never found one of them.  Looked for nuclear weapons, no evidence whatsoever.”

A writer is a rogue goose. All other gees fly in a flock formation; every goose knows his place and time for honking. The rogue goose is undisciplined. He leaves the formation indiscriminately to have a look at it from aside. He roams back and forth, takes a peep at the leader, honks a little bit from behind, distracts everyone and writes on what he sees. Time passes and as he wants to return back to his place he discovers someone else there. Thus he either has to wait until they land for rest...

I can only add this as I added it many times

One of the practical lessons inculcated by the history that has now been released is that no duty is more certain, none more important, than a free and fearless expression of opinion by all persons, on all occasions. No wise or philosophical person would think of complaining of the diversities of sentiment it is likely to develop. Such diversities are the vital principle of free communities and the only elements of popular intelligence. If the right to utter them is asserted by all and for all, tolerance is secured, and no inconvenience results. It is probable that there were many persons in 1692 who doubted the propriety of the proceedings at their commencement, but who were afterwards prevailed upon to fall into the current and swell the tide. If they had all discharged their duty to their country and their consciences by freely and boldly uttering their disapprobation and declaring their dissent, who can tell but the whole tragedy might have been prevented? and if it might, the blood of the innocent may be said, in one sense, to be upon their heads.

Bring it out!

If this is true, it needs to be shouted from the  (virtual) rooftops! The MSM can't be trusted to bring this out in the open!  Both candidates should be confronted with this NOW and HARD!

Durbin Gives Edwards More to Apologize For'

My Fellow Citizens, How much more is it going to take before This Country Explodes ? Isn't there an Honest person serving in our Congress who is 'Brave enough' to Tell The Truth ? Are they all people who have too many Skeletons hiding in their Closets ...to "Rock The Bushite Boat ?? Isn't there One decent Man Living..who Is worthy to become president of this ailing country ( Thanks to Bush and his Ilk It no longer is a country I can say I am Proud to be a citizen of. ) I do so want to be able to Feel That Pride once again in My lifetime. Please, People !! Scream for Impeachment.. Surround That White House.. Ride them out on a Rail..Tarred and Feathered..All of These useless Traitors. How Dare Durbin Think By"Outing'Now what HE Knew Back When It would Have Saved Thousands of Lives If He had Spoken Up and had Really Been A good And Honest Man..Is going to Save him now ! He just Knows The ""S..t is Getting Ready To Be Slung ..And All Of These Lies Are going To be coming out to THE Citizens Of this country... And there will be No place He And All the rest of The Mealy-mouth liers Can Run and Hide from their Just Dessert. No more coasting. Bush cannot Save himself..How do you think he is Going TO Save Anyone else who has assisted him in His horrific complicities...when he can't run far enough to get away, either! Maybe, if he succeeds in getting away, he might be prevailed upon to find a spot for you in Paraguay ... where he has a 100,000 acre spread waiting ? One he is never going to Get to 'enjoy.' So much for Great Plans for a Safe Hideaway ! First, he has to Getaway ! Please, Won't You Make this horror end Soon,Dear Lord ! Too Many Lives have been Lost Already to Bushs' War Machine. VGF
