And we wonder why medical services have gone thru the roof and so many are uninsured? When and where medicine becomes a business rather than a service then many more in the community are bound to become both sick and bankrupt. Big corporate media also does not like to show you too many of these unfortunates cases lest you complain and make "unreasonable" demands. The old bromide applies here – yes, they do bury their mistakes... in the media as well. However, hope arises today from the fact that the growing consumer clamor for transparency in medical prices is already producing some response, and health care is now a huge political issue. Still, according to one analyst "medical group pricing disclosure" is still "extremely rare." Nevertheless, it is a boiling issue coming to the fore and a few providers, like Health Care Partners Medical Gorup in Torrance CA., are now posting their prices for some 58 medical procedures... not in their offices mind you but on their website. Its a start, but will others follow if not forced? A little thing like a law forcing the posting of medical service prices could go a long way towards making the medicine business better, and less costly. Every other store I patronize has clearly posted prices on their items - all except the medical store.
