Is it the "economy" where it costs millions of dollars to run for office, and you have to have the money up front? Is it the one where the Supreme Court dictates that money is free speech and not naked power... thus institutionalizing Oligarchy?
Is it the one where a few, ruling-elite familes, own and control "our" central bank... and have a curious exemption from the Freedom Of Information act?
Is it the economy with 30% interest rates, where medical bills alone bankrupt familes and wipe out decades of savings?
Is it the economy where we have to borrow from a private central bank, at interest, even to repair our broken land after a hurricane? Does God get a cut of the Banksters interest?
And so you "free traders" believe in, and support, this type of economy? And you call this a "free market." A fair market? A democratic market?
Whose economy are you talking about?
Is it the one with forced trade with the greater slave... with no rational, balancing, tariff options, so "we" then proceed to whatever disastrous end result may emerge? Is that the one?
Or, is it the one where the people themselves, a majority of wage-earning people actually determine the nature of their economy, trade policy, environment and democracy.
Or, is it the one where the yearly recipient for the Nobel prize for Economics is chosen by a bunch of Swedish bankers?
If that's the case, if that's your economy, then count me in as a Protectionist.
Clearly, your ruling-elite driven economy is a disaster, a threat, and an insult. It is the reason people around the world today are rebelling, electing "populist" (another epithet?) candidates in order to escape from their ruling-class cages.
Your "free market" is a sham. Your "economy" is a cage. Your "economist" ethics are a disgrace.
When you, Mr Economist and Free Trader, acquire some ethics, and start from the premise of what do the majority of wage-earning people desire, then you will be welcome in the marketplace... a truly free and democratic marketplace. Until then you're simply totalitarian capitalists, fascists of the first order, and you deserve to be flattened.
