Everybody: “Fear ye, fear ye thy terrorist American neighbor! The terrorists are AMERICAN and are just suddenly crawling out of the woodwork!” Ludicrous. I am glad to say that he Aide at Sen. Collins’s office was a receptive listener and seemed serious about reporting back to the Senator, as liason to the American people. But I also have to say that the Aide asked me for my name, which is something that they never do. They ask for a zip code and that’s all. I told her that I declined to give her my name. Are we going to cooperate with the call for silence? Time for some freedom-usurping servants of evil to step down. And it’s about time we Americans strutted the stuff we are made of! Maybe if we do, Congress won’t be able to literally get away with murder. Even if they never step down in response to our call for their resignation, let’s do it anyway, just for the principle of embarrassing them in public. PLEASE JOIN THE PUBLIC CALL. * http://www.aclu.org/safefree/general/32886prs20071128.html ACLU's press release http://ccrjustice.org/learn-more/faqs/factsheet:-violent-radicalization-and-homegrown-terrorism-prevention-act-2007 Center for COnstitutional Rights press release. Attorney/director Michael Ratner stated on KPFA radio that the bill is "so broad" and could be twisted to serve any particular agenda). http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_kathryn__071214_the_war_of_terror_3a_c.htm an article proving that "terrorist/terrorism" are code language targeting vocal citizens, in the form of an open letter to the Congressional sponsors of the bill, in which there also is legal analysis of the bill. http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_michael__071218_internet_thought_con.htm Excellent rebuttal to the Dept of Homeland Security's own rebuttals to the concerns voiced about the bill by bloggers on the Internet (the news was broken by Opednews only a few weeks ago and has lit up like wildfire on the Internet). Truthout did a very good article showing the points of view of the Dept. of Homeland Security as well as the ACLU and other concerned entities. Sorry I no longer have the title or the URL link. **"Police in Thought Pursuit" on Washington Times. com by conservative civil rights attorney Bruce Fein is vociferous about this bill, stating that it will create a free speech censorship at the school and home life. (Any mainstream news media thinking that the targeting of the Internet, as their competitor, is to their advantage is wrong. This bill targets free speech, not the Internet per se. Mainstream media are being short-sighted in keeping silent: Let them know! Their own careers are very likely on the line).

If any of you send me a message to my Opednews box and I do not respond, I am not ignoring you: The message simply is not getting through to me because of my disconnected email at home. Thank you and best wishes, Kathryn Smith This quote summarizes the nature of my concerns and the content of personal experiences which stir my activism: "Necessity is the plea for every infringement on human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves". --Paul Revere, House of Commons
