Tell A Friend

Iran has pledged and may have the capability of exploiting “the war on Islam” to create terrorist attacks around the globe, especially given the outrage that would result from a nuclear attack on Iran. Any such attacks in America would end any semblance of civil liberties. This would also destroy anyone who might stand in the way of the full-scale gathering of intelligence by federal agencies about internal dissidents. Something the administration has continually tried to accomplish under the guise of “sharing information”. The resulting public outcry by anti war, anti globalization and civil rights advocates in this country would probably be violently suppressed, with many detained as “enemy combatants” and “terrorists”.

This is not unanticipated by the Neo Cons. The Department of Homeland Security has been found to be funding local police intelligence units against peaceful anti-war and other groups reminiscent of the Red Squads of the 60's and 70's. The definition of terrorism has been expanded to define against almost anyone disagreeing with the government if they decide to use it that way. The consolidation of data banks, gargantuan increase in government classification and secrecy and the suspicion of government data mining all lead civil libertarians to fear big brother is already here.

This is all part of a pattern and none of it unplanned. The administration has waged continual war on organized labor and the economic underpinnings of the middle class. It has used a theocratic agenda and terrorism to rationalize the suppression of civil liberties, and the use of federal law and trade treaties to allow corporations to override state and local laws. George Bush has asserted that he can ignore any law he wants to (over 750 so far), reject or ignore any international treaty including the Geneva Convention. Add the appointment of conservative judges, the placement of limits on judicial oversight and the wholesale corruption of congress and you have the evolution of a tyranny.

People like Dick Cheney will have no compunction about taking whatever actions they think is necessary to further the Plan for a New American Century. George Bush has already stated that he will do what he thinks future Presidents won't have the courage to do when it comes to Iran and that God told him to invade Iraq. And the future? Today George Bush said he would like to see his brother Jeb as President of the United States. Jeb, unlike George was one of the original signers of the Project for a New American Century. So long America, we hardly knew ye.
