Russia and China Stand Up

“Hu has the power" China watchers observed.

This past year has also been a banner year for China and new trade initiatives.

President Hu Jintao has personally led the charge, visiting and striking deals in several African countries. Not to be outdone, Russia’s President Putin has been on the road too – including to Iran in a landmark visit.

Putin and Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made it clear there is no room for others seeking Caspian Sea resources.

Vladimir Putin is set to step down as President of Russia but news reports paint the picture of a man seeking tremendous behind the scenes influence once he is no longer heading the Kremlin.

Putin has also created a new nationalism in his “Nashi” youth cult – a sort of recreation of the communists summer training camps of the Lenin years.

Putin’s Nashi manifesto states, “Today the U.S. on one side, and international terrorism on the other, are trying to take control of Eurasia and the entire world. Their sights are set on Russia. The task of our generation is to defend the sovereignty of our country the way our grandfathers did 60 years ago.”

Militarily, Russia has again commenced bomber patrols and surveillance of U.S. bases and China is embarked upon a secret restructuring and rebuilding of its military.

Meanwhile, the U.S. fights the war against terror or sleeps – depending upon one’s point of view.

Next year is likely to be China’s year as Beijing hosts the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Those seeking the U.S. presidency should start to formulate and articulate their strategies now on how to deal with a resurgent Russia and a burgeoning China.

Wikipedia says Gulliver’s Travels (1726, amended 1735), officially “Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World, in Four Parts, By Lemuel Gulliver, First a Surgeon, and then a Captain of several Ships,” is a novel by Jonathan Swift that is both a satire on human nature and a parody of the “travellers’ tales” literary sub-genre.

A writer is a rogue goose. All other gees fly in a flock formation; every goose knows his place and time for honking. The rogue goose is undisciplined. He leaves the formation indiscriminately to have a look at it from aside. He roams back and forth, takes a peep at the leader, honks a little bit from behind, distracts everyone and writes on what he sees. Time passes and as he wants to return back to his place he discovers someone else there. Thus he either has to wait until they land for rest...

Did Mr. Carey actually read

"The Gulliver's Travels" I wonder? In the story about Lilliputia Gullver actually tried and successfully prevented the stupid war between the two countries which were fighting about how to crack and egg.  Gulliver several times tells about his respect to the true  good people who helped him on both sides. Hey, Mr. Carey's comparison of the USA which attacked other countries viciously with Gulliver is preposterous. Morover: neither Russia nor China had attacked anyone so far.  As for the Caspian Sea why should the Caspian nations  share those resources, I wonder?

Mr. Carey seems to plunge into total lunacy. The Russian youth movement ' Nashi'   seems to worry him so much that he compares  that to the Lenin's times.  As a person who was in the young pioneer movement  and also in the  the komsomol I can assure Mr. Carey that there is nothing in common. Moreover, Putin was practically appointed by Yeltzin, a darling of the West so why is Mr. Carey so worried now? Maybe because  as in the Bin Laden's case  ' our crook' started to work for himself?

What is even more laughable is the usage of Newt Gingrish as a reference.   Newt is nuts and we all know that.

Thee US is reaping  the poisonous harvest of the Bush's stupidity and malice. That's what is happening- a consolidation of the forces of Humanity against us. We better stop behaving like those crapshooters who wanted to kill Gulliver( yes, some of those lilliputs actually wanted to do just that) and bring in those who truly love this country and respect other people too.

Problem? What problem?

Mr Carey raised alarms indicating the US is now in a strategic disadvantage vis-a-vis Russia/China.

My response is: US strategic disadvantage, the kind described, is totally a deliberate policy of the Bush administration, with the help of Congress. They are not the results of sinister actions of China/Russia, treating the US as some kind of enemy. The people of the US care more about the latest gossip of Britney Spears and the latest imported gadgets from Walmart and Best Buy. The presidential candidates obviously think there is no problem. So why the fuss?

Yes but with respect to:

As much as I despair about the ignorance and foolishness of the American public, both of these states of mind are not truly their own doing. The slow but grand psyop of TV and distraction and trivia has taken its toll on the American psyche. They have been nearly thorougly ensourcelled and trapped within the often referenced 'consensus trance'.
