China Faces Crisis of Credibility Before Olympics

During the SARS emergency, the international media found out, for the first time, that China lacked sufficient medications, medical staff and hospital facilities to properly service their own population. Like many other things in China, the medical system was mostly a sham. After graduating from medical school, the best educated medical professionals in China went to the west to work.

The World Health Organization estimated that only about 4% of China’s medical professionals were prepared for a disease like SARS. And the medical staff was severely undermanned.

Today, according to China’s Ministry of Health (MOH), “In most countries, the ratio of the number of nurses to the total population is about 0.5 percent, but the ratio in China is only 0.1 percent.”

I documented China’s response to the SARS epidemic in a Washington Times commentary under the headline “China’s Ham-Handed SARS Response: Omen of The Future In Disease Control?”

Recall the Bird Flu crisis? Phases One, Two and Three were used again. Hey, when you have 1.3 Billion people you can’t have a complicated play book. And forget about innovation. When an American football quarterback would call an audible for perfectly valid reasons; China is stuck. The only question China’s government leaders face is, what Phase do you think we are in?

In the current food and product safety crime, China is now launching Phase Three. Zheng Zeguang and Li Dongsheng are apparently two of the point men.

China launched Phase Three of the food safety scare early because there are other emergencies to handle. Hollywood big shots are already calling the 2008 Summer Olympics the “Genocide Games” because of China’s intransigence and denial of the genocide in Darfur. China’s President Hu Jintao heard about it from Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the G-8 meeting and the next week from the King and PM during a state visit to Sweden.

My bet is, given China’s record on human rights, that Hu Jintao’s first reaction normally would be to ignore Canada and China.  But these are not normal times.

What if Canada and Sweden boycotted the Beijing Olympics?  Losing those two countries would be a tragedy.  But Canada and Sweden might convince others to pull out.  Add the Hollywood talk of the “Genocide Games” and that could be enough to ruin China’s party next summer.

So China has a few other crises to handle yet in the near term. Blood plasma has now been found to be adulterated and contaminated. Some has been found to be toxic. And the genocide of Darfur looms.

With the Olympics only a year away, China needs to get the food scare settled quickly. We are now in Phase Three.

A writer is a rogue goose. All other gees fly in a flock formation; every goose knows his place and time for honking. The rogue goose is undisciplined. He leaves the formation indiscriminately to have a look at it from aside. He roams back and forth, takes a peep at the leader, honks a little bit from behind, distracts everyone and writes on what he sees. Time passes and as he wants to return back to his place he discovers someone else there. Thus he either has to wait until they land for rest...

Charm offensive? Heatlhcare Crisis?

After invading two countries, killing about a million people and destroying the peace in Middle East forever OUR president unleashed a ' charm offensive' in Europe where he seems to be  loved only by Albanians, who  BTW do not see the difference between him and Clinton. Talk about charm offensive...

And here is something about the context:

'Like many other things in China, the medical system was mostly a sham. After graduating from medical school, the best educated medical professionals in China went to the west to work.'

I would replace  ' China' by  the ' US" here.  No, the med graduates do not go ' west' here. They  milk the people here. OUR healthcare is a shame  and  an abomination. We have a obesity  pandemia  on our hands and about 50% of the people take drugs regularly. That's what we need to  look at.

The Chinese are cynical utilitarians

The Chinese are cynical. Their actions show that they do not value human life either inside China or outside of China. They blend both Capitalist and Communist Ideologies to accomplish their objectives because they do not believe in either Ideology.

Their actions betray a crass, cynical, utilitarian mindset.

Maybe when their environment becomes so toxic from their polluting activities their captive population will send all their Capitalist and Communist bureaucrats out  to do gardening.

How Can I Like You John?

I think most of the chinese problems are due to the pressure and lies the West puts on the people. I can think of much more poisoning the USA does everyday and not a peep from John Carey about this?

How about the Kiribati people John? You know in the S.Pacific where we dropped 36 Atomic Bombs during Operation Dominic. We all know how bad Chernobyl and 3 Mile Island was. But this makes them look like dog dung on your shoe. Ever wonder how much contaminated radioactive fish you have eaten? Ever wonder why some strange diseases just seem to come along? Why SARS? Why Bird Flu? Why Cancers? Why Alzheimers? Seems to me if we detonate 36 Atomic Bombs in the Worlds Atmosphere that is loaded with radioactivity we are bound to be spewing and blowing that stuff around the planet, causing genetic, health, problems.

Who takes responsibility for that John? That doesn't include the good people of Nevada who were exposed to radiation. And those underground tests are safer? Think again.. what happens to our underground water table, wells, and rain runoff? Right Radiation poisoning, and probably chemicals that don't register geiger counter readings.

Oh you evil finger pointing peanut butter licker...Get real man, pull it out of your nose.  And don't forget the two Atomic Bombs you people dropped on Japan targeting innocent civilians instead of their military. You think that was an isolated  drop?  Think any of it has reached the shinning shores of American? Of course.

Who is responsible John? Who has caused the world to be born with deformed genetic defected babies who now are in power in world governments but can't reason  or understand the truth because of radioactive poisoning unknown to them. So we lash out them for being evil? We blame binLadin, or Saddam, or any convenient poor bugger..Even China, because who cares right John?

I think you are a China basher and hater, instead of a humanist. You aren't a man of reason, or a  man who solves issues. Like Bush, your only answer is hate, war, and warnings. How can I like you John?

By the Way John, the Kiribati people live in obscure poverty. They can't even afford to send a representative to the UN. Now that is poor.  How about helping to understand why we really have these evils in the world? I would think it came from our own backyard. If we don't pay for our own injustice to humanity, how do you expect the rest of the world to listen to you? Impossible, given what we have done. Ohhhhhhhhhhh! the pain we create and still we don't up from down, in from out, or truth form lies. You have made insanity a houseword.
