Even the devastated uncomprehending wild stare of the mother who looks down upon the cadaver of what was her beloved son, a young man full of joy and enthusiasm grown from the cute infant she once bore – even the mother's anguished reaction is the same – the same for the American mother and for the Iraqi, Afghani, Somali, Vietnamese, and Korean mothers who looked down at what was their beloved sons.
A corpse can be dressed in a clean uniform and waxed to appear, as a sculptured manikin in keen physical resemblance, but a cadaver cannot be said to have kept the nationality of the person while alive. A corpse sheathed in a pure white garment from rigid neck to stiffened toe, regardless of the loving cultural traditions observed during its burial, is still a cadaver. And as any and all cadavers, though the property of a family of a certain nationality, the cadaver itself, as the saying "Dust to dust!" implies, transcends nationality.
These body count corpses are merely material remnants of miraculous human beings of limitless potential for creative imagination and pleasant accomplishment for their families and society. It was the destiny of each Americans killed to become a body counted corpse while on a mission to kill other miraculous human beings for the body count policy of their commanders.
These cadavers of mutual enemies lie and rot in death as close brothers through the end of time, though their brotherhood was denied them during their lifetime on the beautiful planet Earth they shared.
The departed spirits of invaders and those much more numerous departed spirits of the indigenous must surely be sharing a peace together in eternity. A peace bought in reciprocal murderous violence; a criminal and unjust violence ordered half a world distant from the battlegrounds.
Despite the successful jingoistic efforts of the conglomerate owned commercial entertainment/news industry cartel to paint a 'religious' portrait of a modern day Valhalla where the warrior heroes of the superpower look down from a sectarian heaven, there is great uneasiness.
American uneasiness for the thousand-fold more multitudinous fallen enemy warriors heading up to their promised heaven after fighting against the most powerful army on earth, often using their own bodies as bombs, and taking their slaughtered families in tow to a better life than living under unholy foreign subjugation.
Some folks back home, buffaloed by war-promoting media, continue to be foolishly content that every dead American soldier out in eternity has nearly a thousand designated bad guy counterparts, which to them means America has a winning score.
But hoping for high body counts works both ways: their bodies and yours, your bodies and theirs, and bodies are being counted in more and more countries and places, as violence and terror by the rich and powerful is countered by equally pitiless violence and terror from the supposedly poor and weak and spiraling back and forth in never ending insanity.
Suicide bomber recruits also wish for a high body count for their personal sacrifice, as they don their vests filled with nails, nuts and bolts.
Recently, there was dancing in the streets of Gaza, jumping up and down for joy, embracing and shouts of hooray for just a mere few mostly civilian Israeli bodies counted. Yet everyone must have known that the Israeli air force would produce its own higher body count the next day.
The dream of many, who avidly support suicide bombing, must be a huge bodies count like that of 9/11 where enemy civilian bodies counted just as revenge-effective as if the bodies were of the military which has them so hopelessly out-gunned.
Homeland Security informs Americans that there is a 50/50 chance of an another attack of equal or greater proportions than that of 9/11/2001; read that as meaning a higher body count than 9/11. Yet no solution to the spiraling terror is forthcoming. The plan remains the same: Get higher body counts before the enemy does. And since America's enemies seem to be growing in number, the higher count will just have to be even higher yet. Anyone dizzy yet?
Let us seek guidance in the words of America's martyred hero Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
"Violence is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. It is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding; it seeks to annihilate rather than to convert. Violence is immoral because it thrives on hatred rather than love."
Back in April of 1968, a body count of one caused riots in protest all over his country.
To only enjoy holidaying on his birthday while the body counts go on is simply bizarre. Could maybe a case be made for Americans having a cruel streak?
