The itinerary of this "Journey for Humanity" was NO SECRET, but for all busy New Yorkers, including the most well intentioned staffs of our many progressive orgs., journals and bloggers, it might have just as well been one.
If there were a higher degree of cohesion among the multitude of separate progressive endeavors, how many thousands would have heard Cindy at these three events in New York this weekend? And how much Cindy Sheehan would the conglomerate owned media begrudgingly have served up to its advertising paid for entertainment/news audiences.
And how does a peace movement grow? By each peacenik doing his or her own thing independently?
Cindy, apparently did not let the smallness of the 'crowds' affect her in the least, and was most appreciative of us, and we of her.
Musician and writer, who has lived and worked on all the continents and whose articles on media have been published in China, Italy, England and the US, and now resides in New York City.
I was disheartened and discouraged to read of the modest turnout for Cindy Sheehan in NYC. Here is a woman who came out of NOWHERE to almost overnight become a world wide, honored and respected figure, who had the b------s to be the first to begin to publically and passionately speak out on the senselessness, stupidity and illegality of this invasion! She became a household name around the world and a modest few showed up to listen to her. WHY???Because, we here in America have become complacent and apathetic, a nation who has become soft and lackluster with simply too much! Numbed by too much. As Senator Hart stated, "we will need another attack before Americans wake up to reality." Our taxes going to the Military Complex, the war, Air Force One, other countries while services here are cut, hospitals close, healthcare creating bankruptcies, Katrina people still sufferring but Billions going to building bases in Iraq and a giant embassy. And the sad thing is, unless we wake up, we're going to elect more of the same. This country is sliding downhill rapidly. The prophets like Gore, Sheehan, the truth seekers critisized. It is sad, but we may be too late now, certainly as far as dirty water and a polluted food supply is concerned.
I close by saying wake up women! Pay attention to the powerful instincts we are born with. CARE about your food you feed your kids, CARE about the medical care, CARE about who your kids hang out with, everyone has got to GIVE A DAMN! We're spiritually powerful ladies, we're the ones that get the fires burning again after crisis, we're the emotionally strong, we're the true healers, our time is coming more and more....the times of power, greed and money ruling have got to end to bring life and peace to the planet. Too bad every man doesn't stand by a rich man dying...they all cry, have regrets, most have broken families. What happened to the men who protected women and children? What happened to those instincts? Killing others? Raping?War? pediphiles on the Internet.. Where are the politicians who speak of protecting women and children? I never hear them. Mother Theresa visited every country in the world....she stated ours was the most loveless. Thank greed and selfishness with values/morality at low tide. Until we begin caring for one another it's all getting worse. Just look at our administration and Congress? they may as well be on Mars as to being connected to The People. Oh for an FDR.

Thanks for your excellent reportage on Cindy's New York experience. It was well of you to write about it and post the shame of New York for all to see.
