The only solution for Iraq is one which has never been discussed.

(b) A delay in the inevitable Shiite majority victory.

(c) Because it’s already been admitted by virtually everyone that a “military victory” by the U.S. is impossible, it’s stands to reason that no matter what we do, the Shiite are going to eventually prevail.

(d) As long as the U.S. occupation of Iraq continues in the midst of a struggle between the Shiites, the Sunni, and Al Qaeda, Al Qaeda will remain viable because the presence of the United States is PREVENTING their defeat by the Shiites.

Therefor, the following consequences will unfold if the United States completely withdraws from Iraq:

The Sunni will be slaughtered or have to flee, and indeed, it will be bloody. Al Qaeda will be completely destroyed and killed in Iraq.

A democratic government will form which has close relations with Iran.

Some additional facts:

The current government in Iraq ALREADY has close ties with Iran. Apparently the Bush administration is perfectly willing to excuse and rationalize the current close ties with Iran for some reason. The “duh” factor of course is the so-called “revenue sharing” from oil which grants 95% of the profits to the oil companies.

So this conflict –as anyone with half a clue has known all along- has absolutely NOTHING to do with “democracy”, “terrorism”, Al Qaeda, or any other so-called justification trotted out, but is about trillions of dollars to oil companies. It’s also why the United States and Brits are daily engaging in violations of Iranian territory in desperate hopes of provoking Iran into a new casus belli to justify so-called “regime change” in Iran: With it’s back against the wall of the American and British people, and trillions in stolen oil revenue potentially to be lost in Iraq, and with virtually no more ground troops available, Bush is hoping to find justification to use the only military options left to him in a hail-mary; Massive air power and even nuclear weapons to end any and all resistance to the acquisitions.

Every day the Bush administration remains unimpeached and unindicted grants them another day to hope for a “sellable” justification to kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people for their oil.

The American people need to be told the whole truth of this situation, and of the inevitable consequences of withdrawing from Iraq to make an informed decision. A sane, logical U.S. foreign policy actually based on creating a democracy in Iraq, would recognize the need for an unpleasant, swift Shiite victory over their former oppressors, and also over Al Qaeda, and would reach out to Iran and cooperate with them in establishing Iraq as a Shiite democracy. As far as Islamic nations go, Iran is a vastly superior model to anything established by the Sunni, the natures of which have all been un-democratic and vicious towards notions of religious freedom. There is far less to be feared from an expansion of Iran’s influence in the region than the current situation, or even the past. A stronger Shiite influence in the middle east is the only realistic model likely to sustain itself as a democracy, and although the 20 percent Sunni minority are going to suffer badly at first, only a delusional could ever view the victory of 80 percent of a population as a democratic injustice in the greater scheme of things.

The United States is in the mess it’s currently in for one reason, and one reason only: It has attempted to expand the reach of it’s empire for the purposes of pure unadulterated theft of the rightful property of the Iraqi people, believing they would gratefully lay down and accept the creation of an American puppet government and banana republic as preferable to their previous American puppet government gone bad. It was a miscalculation of stupendous ignorance and the United States can only find “victory” on terms considered just by a majority of Iraqis. That brings us full circle back to the absolute sanity of a swift, decisive Shiite victory, and an acceptance that the United States MUST turn over a completely new leaf with Iran and accept the fully foreseeable natural consequences of it’s destruction of the Hussein regime.
The Iranians can be dealt with and must be. But first the American people are going to have to understand that not only does Bush have to go, but so does the idea of claiming the oil for Chevron and BP. The alternative to accepting this is going to be unimaginable and ultimately will completely destroy what little is left of the United States as a Democratic Republic with relations with other nations. It just won't fly.

Get out now, completely, allow the inevitable, and deal intelligently with the people who self-determine the new Iraq’s structure. Tell the American people the truth, that it’s going to be messy, that gasoline prices may well go up significantly for a time. Tell them if they don’t like the results, they can put the blame where it truly belongs; On Bush and the GOP. That’s the reality of it all, and we don’t need everyone to accept it here; only 51%. If the Dems can’t sell that self-evident truth, they can’t sell anything. I won’t hold my breath.
