When it comes to how this country treats those who don the military uniform and the perilous challenges the rest of us are either too old, too physically unfit, or too unwilling to engage, Edwards has long been solidly supportive of both them and their families. Whether our veterans are physically or psychologically or emotionally wounded as a consequence of their service is of no matter. His mantra on this has been consistent, that whatever it might take or cost, this country has a moral obligation to bind the wounds that have been borne; PERIOD! As an old Army vet, I will testify that, however an atta-boy pat on the back and a beer and a rousing cheer and yellow ribbons on the car-trunk are nice, if that’s all ya gonna do . . . I’ve got a suggestion where ya can stuff ‘em, and a clue as to which extended finger I’ll use to salute you.
And as with Barack, one-on-one against whomever the GOP nominee might be, without provoking massive Republican voter anger (or even much angst), Edwards dispatches them handily.
Think about it, please.
