Leo Strauss and the "Crazies in the Basement"

The 'crazies in the basement’ don’t believe such a society can exist, or should exist, and they do everything in their power to keep it from existing.    For them, an ignorant, obedient citizenry beholden to an absolute, opaque government is the ideal.

To see that the real, most dangerous threat to our freedom and democracy is from radicals and fanatics within our nation, within our government, and not from without---don’t take my word for it---Google “Leo Strauss” and see for yourself.

Retired university professor.

Very interesting

and enlightening; the straussian political philosophy is at the core of neoconservatism.

Leo Strauss' writings are to neoconservatism what ''Mein Kampf'' is to the nazi movement. Everything they wanted to do, and did, is in there.

Leo Strauss and another Univ of Chicago professor, have served to bring us all to the brink of economic and political collapse.  The Strauss twin would be Milton Friedman, ultra conservative  economist and father of the new free market theory. Both qualify as 'crazies in the basement'. To see the lunacy of Friedmania, read Naomi Klein's book "The Shock Doctrine" and learn about disaster capitalism. Read and learn about these two 'leaders' who have virtually destroyed America through their mindless followers.

The philosopher kings are the worst of the vulgar many.

I have a healthy contempt for the human race. I think humans are crooks, suckers, and lazy cowards. There are no philosopher kings. No one is special.

Life makes everyone into something twisted and unique. There is no such thing as something special.

When this filth thinks it is ruling someone else, it can't even rule the corresponding part of itself.   The good intentions of the second-rate pave the way to disaster.
