One of Key SOTU Lies Was a Rerun

Tell A Friend

Was this the one broken up in 1995, before Bush, when we still had much of our Bill of Rights intact? Is this the "tallest building on the West Coast" story by another name in order to expand the list? I've seen a lot of reports on Bush's speech, but no explanation of what he's talking about here.

Of course, such claims were not new even in 2007: They follow the pattern of the Padilla radiation bomb claim. The announcement of that supposed success was made at a time when Bush needed a boost in the media, even though the man had been locked up for a month already; and then those major charges were later dropped. Keith Olbermann once ran a segment highlighting the suspicious timing of ten such announcements, each one of which ended up amounting to nothing at all. Olbermann's story left out plenty of more recent examples, but then, so did Bush's speech. Have we forgotten the heroic way in which he saved the Sears Tower already?

In 2007 Olbermann ran another story citing my article on Bush's lies. Eternal vigilance, Keith. Don't let it drop. Congress swallows it whole and applauds.

And did you notice that even in the 2008 State of the Union, when Bush claims new powers, Congress cheers?

"And tomorrow I will issue an executive order that directs federal agencies to ignore any future earmark that is not voted on by Congress.

"If these items are truly worth funding, Congress should debate them in the open and hold a public vote."

(APPLAUSE)

If it works the first time ...

If you can get away with a lie why not keep repeating it?

There is only one thing that would stop all this nonsense and I don't think it's going to happen, and that's impeachment. And the reason impeachment won't happen is it would start to peel away layers of lies about crimes leading right up to 9/11, and the compliance of both parties in crimes from here to there.

I submit we don't have a government but a criminal organization. I have no other answer for what's going on. Watching that farce of a speech I couldn't help but wonder what those people have in common with the average citizen? Watching those so-called puppets, half of them standing and applauding every time the idiot-king said something everyone knows he will never follow through on, unless of course it has to do with continuing tax cuts for the rich and more wars, as the other half sat on their hands - literally - and let's this cretin off the hook by not stopping him through impeachment and thereby are complicit in his crimes, was about all one could take.

I've come to a conclusion that things are so far gone as to not be restored before we go through a great cleansing that very well might wipe this species from the planet.

Damn lies

Our military and civilians are doing an honorable job. I think not unless you exclude Blackwater shooting up the place.

It must have been painful

to pay attention. I couldn't bear it and had to shout so much just so I didn't have to hear him lying with every breath.
