“Although our focus isn’t specifically on politics, we’re conscious that many of our members are politically oriented and looking for a forum to express their political opinions, desires, and needs, said Tim Poindexter, community manager for disaboom.  “By utilizing a live-blog format, we believe our users don't just consume political content, but simultaneously create their own, making the process a much more dialogical one,” he added.

This sentiment seems to be the driving force behind the marriage of the live-blog phenomenon and the presidential debates.  A live, fast paced event, on which the political future of the nation hinges, demands rapid, insightful, and diverse commentary.

Otherwise, who will help America sift through the madness the next time the candidates unearth a slew of cheap shots and low blows?
