3) It gives voters a real choice, instead of having to vote for Tweedledee or Tweedledum.

4) It gives the impeachment/peace movement a peaceful, legal way to protest, that could be effective in making a real power shift in this nation.

5) It has the potential of breaking the power of corporate money over elections.

6) It creates the possibility of organizing nationally across party lines in a "new broom coalition".

We have 6-9 months before Congressonal primaries, and over a year before the general election to get organized. We should be starting now, district by district, to find and build two viable candidates, one within the party now holding the Congressional seat (we should find libertarian Republicans to challenge incumbent GOP House members) and one from either the main opposition party or the Greens,- or it could be an independent, like Cindy Sheehan.

It would be helpful to have a nationwide coordinating office, but that could develop later. The main thing right now is to use this strategy and build good candidates into viable candidates.

We can do this! If we can control the House- and 50 or so from the New Broom coalition would be enough to change its direction- we can go on to curb the presidency and restore the balance of powers mandated by our precious Constitution. It's our best defense against fascism, and our best hope for getting out of Iraq and forestalling an attack on Iran.

Peace, Carol Wolman
