These are the essential aspects of this struggle. These are the questions on which depends the soul of America-- whether it will express what Lincoln called "the better angels of our nature," or whether it will remain under the thrall of these dark forces.
Yes, it is essential that we strip these individuals of their power to prevent them from doing more damage. But the necessary first step for achieving that is for us to reach a national consensus that these people, and the forces they represent, are a national disgrace.
Once the American public has agreed together that this Bushite regime is a disgrace, their moral authority will disappear. That is an important step in draining away their power. And other steps, if they are needed, can follow from that.
But for the sake of our country's future, we must work now not just to remove this destructive cabal, but to discredit in the eyes of our countrymen all those forces that have revealed their true dark and evil nature by the nature of the regime they have banded together to empower.
We are fighting for the soul of our country. For what else is a country's soul but the spirit that animates its course?
Fighting for America's soul. This should be the battle cry of the grassroots movement that opposes this destructive regime. This should be the issue on which the campaign of 2006 is waged, because --at this moment in America's history-- there is no more vital issue facing our country.
