Try to explain that away as “spam”.
The whole point is that, whenever and wherever Ron Paul actually gets his message across to people, they turn into ardent, passionate, supporters.
And that is precisely what GOP bloggers fear.
Ron Paul now gets the national spotlight at every succeeding televised GOP debate. He gets interviews on show like Bill Maher (twice) CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, and scores of others. Giuliani gave Ron Paul his biggest boost when Giuliani revealed his own ignorance about the root causes of 9-11 at the South Carolina Debate on May 15th. The post debate frenzy has led to a tremendous growth of the numbers of Paul supporters on Meetup.com, where the numbers currently look like this:
Meetups Table
Obama and Hillary Meetups have existed for far longer than Ron Paul’s. Obama’s and Hillary’s numbers have remained static. During the entire last week, however, Ron Paul’s numbers have grown at a daily rate of 3 to 6.5 percent. (Just compound that at 3 percent and see what you come up with over the course of one year). And this after the last post-campaign rush has long been over.
Note: There are ZERO Meetups for any other GOP candidate!
Maybe after this, the 'unholy trinity' will try to get some Meetups, too. They should. That’s where the real, spontaneous grass roots efforts are happening. If they do, that will reveal the true gravitational support centers among the GOP candidates.
Does the absence of any other GOP Meetups mean that Meetup.com is just a playground for “Leftie trolls”?
Maybe - and maybe not. Whether it does or not is irrelevant, though, because the Ron Paul Meetup phenomenon proves one point with unmistakable clarity:
Ron Paul’s support isn’t illusory. It isn’t “spam”. It’s not a concerted effort by a 'small and futile' online army.
It is real - and that causes enormous consternation among those who back lying scumbag pseudo-conservatives in their run for the country’s highest office. Hence the title of this article.
I personally organize the Houston 4 Ron Paul 2008 Meetup. I know our members are not figments of somebody else’s fertile imagination. We communicate every day and we meet once a week. Our numbers have more than quadrupled since the first debate three weeks ago. After each debate, we get a huge rush in new memberships. We go out to street corners with signs and hand out flyers. We organize block-walks and phone banks. We strategize. We hold debate parties.
And there are already enough of us to go door to door, precinct by precinct, district by district, county by county, and state by state.
No wonder fear is gripping the GOP Blogoshpere.
