Our moral arbiters seem ready to accept his repentance of his adulteries. But unless Gingrich is also willing to repent of his boom-bust cycle of behavior, he shouldn’t be utilized as anything more than a campaign strategist – one kept somewhere in the background where his private life can remain private, and his more outrageous statements can be uttered by someone else.
After all, if it’s Gingrich in 2008, what will we do in 2010 when he gets bored?
